Steering wheel travel up/down

I've had several Mercedes where you can set the height of the steering wheel. My present S560 won't go up or down, Same happened in a CL550 and SL55O. I take it to the dealer and they return it to me saying for me not to lean on the steerig wheel when exiting, No parts replaced, just that statement I've had two Jags XJL and a used 2024 XK and never had this problem with those two cars, Anybody else out there had this happen????

Don't know anything about leaning...
In my two S class cars, 2012 and 2018 S560, steering wheel adjustments, in, out, up, and/or down, for entry and exit, and for driving, have always worked perfectly. Did you or were you able to show someone why and how your were having a problem?
Could not they make it function? If yes, what is the problem? If not, why not?
Did they show you it functioning? Ditto questions.

From what you have written, it seems obvious something is not working properly, and you should be able easily to demonstrate it.

Check wireing and connectors under the front seats. Thats where the module for the steering column is and since the seat moves a LOT and stuff can get under the seat and damage the wires this is a VERY common problem spot.

Look a semi good tip by a dealer!

The steering tilt is very prone to fail if while using easy entry the user leans on the wheel while it moves. Requires replacement of mechanism to fix.

My w212 steering column sometimes got stuck, I would press it to go down while banging the bottom part of the steering wheel and that gets it moving again.

Yep. I''ve used a similar method in the past. I'd move my knees against the bottom of the wheel and press up while toggliing the up/down repeatedly and most all times that would work for a few days/weeks. The last time I did this on the present car, it failed to an unusual situation in that it will now go up/down when toggling the switch but only about three inches up/down. This is NOT the first Mercedes that has given me this condition, I've had this happen on CL550's, S550 coupes and now this S560 sedan. In the past they'd take it in the shop and return it saying I should not lean on it while it's moving. In my mind I've never leaned on it while it's moving up/down. I scheduled an appointment onliie a month ago but cancled it mostly because I don't trust/like the service dept at Park Place Mtrs. I posted this thread because I was curious if anybody else has had this problem or not. In my mind I need to have the mechanism replaced and will when 'the time' comes, one way or the other.
