New owner and just starting to get familiar with 2020 S560 4MATIC. I was reading the operators guide and I was a little shocked at the note that said something like, depending on driving habits, oil usage can be up to 0.9 quarts every 600 miles. I have heard about such usage in Audi cars but was a bit surprised with that usage on a S560. So if I drive 15,000 miles a year, I might use over 2 quarts a month.

I have had Lincolns, KIAs, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Maserati and a Ford truck and I never had to add oil between standard services in the last 20 years or so.

Is the two quarts a month realistic or is that for someone running the engine just about flat out all the time? I get a little uncomfortable with that type of potential oil use on a car that does not seem to have a dipstick, relying on a sensor. Please comment on your experience during "normal" driving.

Oil changes on my ‘18 S560 at recommended intervals.
Never have had an “Add oil msg.”

OP change the oil on time, give it the right oil and MB filter. Take good care of it and the car will be fine. The oil level sensor will let you check the oil at a fill-up. You just don’t have to get under the hood to do so.

I never see my oil drop much even after 5K miles, the 600 mile figure is BS unless the engine is worn our or a wankel engine.
