2018 S560 (M176) Camshaft Solenoid Pigtail Installation – Need Help!
Hey everyone,
I’m working on a 2018 S560 (M176 Engine, W222) and need help locating the camshaft solenoids. I’m planning to install 4x pigtails (part #2711500156) to protect against oil egress and damage.
Does anyone have any tips or guidance on what needs to be removed to get a clear view for installation?
The engine bay is pretty packed, and I’m struggling to figure out the best approach. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
While you are in there, you should install the pigtails on the Camshaft position sensors. They are more commonly affected by oil intrusion more so than the magnets.

My independent shop, who is extremely knowledgeable on MB issues, said that he was not familiar with this being a problem with the M176 engine. Does it have a different design than the M278 in the electrical connector/harness area?
@Barry Hanna Thank you for sharing the knowledge from your Mercedes independent shop. The layout of the M176 engine is indeed quite different from the M278, and none of the videos I've found (on YouTube or FCP Euro) seem to be representative of the M176. At least I can take some comfort in knowing that even your local shop is unfamiliar with the oil ingress issue on the M176 engines. I appreciate you taking the time to share the information. Cheers!
