It's really not that hard to clean the seats, Turtle wax makes a good leather cleaner. Just spray it on and rub like crazy with a nice soft white towel. In the case of my drivers seat it's the real high end Nappa designo leather and it wore out and started getting holes in it as the car has had a lot of use over the years and I priced out the cost to replace the drivers seat lower seat cover at the dealer and it was 1350 dollars for just the part plus labor around 500 dollars they said. So I bought a pair of lower seat covers from Amazon that match the color fairly well and strapped one of them onto the drivers seat and it doesn't look too bad, that was 1 1/2 years ago and I recently cleaned it with the turtle wax cleaner and it cleaned up fairly nicely and looks good again. When it gets worn out I will replace it with the second one. Not a bad deal for 35 bucks. Lesson of the story, from now on I buy a new car with MB Tex vs nappa leather, it holds up much better. My wagon is similar age and has mb tex and it's still fine and less maintenance.

Anyone know where I can take off a piece of the seat leather to get a dye match? I really really don’t want to take the seat apart, I know how difficult and laborious taking the seat out can be.

If you'd like to PM me your vin #, I can get you those part #'s & leather codes if supplied in our catalog. The passenger side seat bottom cover is typically not available seperate from the cushion + heater + weight occupancy sensor is all built into it. Makes it much more expensive than just the driver's side seat "cover"

I started cleaning the driver seat. Excellent results using my favorite all purpose cleaner Krud Kutter.
When I’m finished I’ll hit it with leatherique pruducts.
i’ll still look into replacing the driver side seat bottom because wear is wear. I’ll take pictures when I’m finished today.

Are we talking about the same headrest cover? Not the best view but the rear seats in this picture has this headrests. They feel like suede leather, but very soft and light weight. I’m surprised that the manual doesn’t address cleaning

Not calling anybody specifically out, but be very careful what advice you take on this subject.

Your seat covers will not need to be replaced, they may need to be re-dyed. If you want to do this yourself, here is what I woild get:

Colourlock Strong leather cleaner:

https://www.obsessedgarage.com/produ...gaAh_7EALw_wcB

Autofiber Microfiber scrub pads:

Amazon Amazon

Dampen the scrub ninja pads and spray the strong cleaner on the pad. Work the pad into the leather re-adding more cleaner as it dries out, then wipe the leather down with a clean damp microfiber towel, and then follow up with a dry towel. You may have to do this a few times.

Once done, I would dress the leather with KochChemie Leather Star:

Amazon Amazon

If this process does not clean the leather to your satisfaction, they will need to be re-dyed. I would suggest a good upholstery shop.

Those pillows that snap to the headrests snap off and are cleanable. They are made with some sort of Rayon/Polyester blend of fabric that is made to look like suede but it is not suede. If you un snap the pillow and look at the back of the pillow there is a slit where you can remove the white stuffing pouch and then launder the pillow case. I would start with Downey or some other mild detergent and run them in the washing machine separately. Get more aggressive with the cleaners until they come out of the wash as white as possible. Do not dry until they are clean and I would not put them in the dryer but rather hang them to dry. Then just brush out the fabric to bring the feel back. If they are too soiled then just buy a couple new ones.

SW20S, thanks for the info. I did clean the seats but I have no idea if I have to original color yet. My seats do have some creases from wear, not a lot, but some. It would be easier if not for the thousands of perforations for air flow. I did see one other car that was a year old in use but any chance to see it side by side to compare is gone. I still need a piece of leather to get a dye match, this is the hardest part so far.

if you want new complete leather for your w222, I can provide you with 1:1 seat covers in any color. Will take about 20 business days to get to your door though.

Post up a picture of it now and lets see how it looks...

It will take re-dying to get rid of the creases...

That’s the problem with light-colored interiors …. They require consistent love and care to maintain their appearance over years even with “normal” use…. You really need monthly maintenance to keep them in like-new condition for years. All my cars have light-colored interiors (white to cream), and they all appear fresh/new, but I’ve developed a habit of cleaning the interior for each of them at least once a month. I use a solution of hot water, 2 oz of ONR, and one dissolved laundry detergent packet as needed, in a 2.5-gallon bucket + a microfiber cloths. For vegan leather, this routine is enough. However, for Nappa, Full-Merino, and Semianiline leather, I follow it up with a conditioner.

Now that I’ve had the experience with enough cars that had Nappa and Vegan leather, I’m a huge fan of Vegan leather. They last significantly longer in a brand-new condition, and they’re also incredibly easy to maintain/clean and don’t show any signs of aging or wrinkles like Nappa. No conditioning too, just wipe them clean, done, and they are always soft. However, I do enjoy the feel of Nappa leather in MBenz cars, but some other brands (BMW and Tesla) have truly mastered/perfected Vegan leather to a level that made itsuperior to Nappa or full Merino leather. The best leather I had in any car was the Semi-aniline in my 2nd S560 followed by Vegan in my Tesla, everything else was just fine but inferior.

Tesla and BMW’s vegan leather really is excellent I agree. Feels almost like Napa leather.

Thanks guys. I’ve looked at dozens of Mercedes-Benz Porcelain White Interiors - a couple in person and the rest throughout the internet and I believe many must have dyed their seats, they’re just too perfect. I just got out of the hospital a few days ago so I’ll take photos tomorrow morning. I must have missed something in prior posts, what is ONR and vegan leather?
I don’t mind at all putting time in cleaning the leather once a month to keep it good looking and feeling the best. I’m almost sure re dying is going to happen and I could do this myself once I review the steps.

I don't think so; very hard to find someone who would dye the seats. It's not hard to maintain light interiors clean especially the owners of an S-class, they should care enough to keep it as such.... I have had so many white/cream interior cars, most of them up to the 50-70K miles mark and when sold they still looked brand new, like truly same color as when they were new beside unavoidable minor leather wrinkles. I also owned a Lexus LS 430 up until 250K; and the cream leather truly looked the same color as when brand-new after more than a decade of driving it at 250K miles, just had wrinkles on driver seats. ONR is an organic cleaning solution that acts as lubricant and also encapsulated dirt very very very well (search Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine, used as carwash additive or soup replacement at 2oz per 2 gallons ratio, and also interior detailer/cleaner at 2-4% concentration, or paint detailer at 1oz per 30oz bottle concentration. Vegan leather is just another way of saying synthetic leather (like Mbenz MB-Tex, or seats in all Tesla cars, or BMW sensafin leather). Most manufacturers have not perfected it until recently. Not going to be an option on the W222 anyway but something to consider if you buy a new BMW in the future, and something to consider with newer Mbenz, i like my MB-Tex is our GLS as a family car especially with cream interior. No creaks, easy to clean, and feels soft. For an S-class, I'd rather get semi-aniline though.

The key is maintaining them and being careful with them. Hard to bring them back all the way when they look like yours did, but if you maintain them well they will stay perfect.

Seems like most W222's for sale that I have seen on line or in person with light interiors look deteriorated.

All light interiors get deteriorated if they aren't cared for, and few people care for them.

I guess if you want the interior looking more like new a decent upholstery shop is probably your best bet. I'm sure it would be a lot less money than going to the dealer. Just for the lower cover on my drivers seat the dealer was talking around 1800 dollars installed, thats insane. The cover itself was gonna be $1350.00, thats just for the lower part of the seat and not even the backrest.

You’ll be shocked how dirty your seat cushion actually is, look at the first couple photos. I think this is really the only way to go. OEM seat cover replacement. Horrible job (the tips of my fingers are throbbing right now) but worth it. I’ll have to take a steamer to it to try and get the remaining wrinkles out but even if I don’t make much progress there, looks 100 times better.

That is just straight up neglect. Someone could have cared less about the interior of that car. Too bad as it looks like a nightmare to swap all those hides.

Not in my possession. Detailed weekly and leatherique’d twice a year. Can’t speak to the prior owner. The seat didn’t look nearly as bad when it was in the car either.

I don't know much of anything about interior leather care, but I would be inclined to let time work out the wrinkles rather than applying steam. When I replaced the MBtex driver seat cover on my E-Class it has some wrinkles that disappeared with time.

Neither do I, but I definitely will exercise caution now that you mention it. Not to mention how expensive that new cover was...
