Distronic+ slows down at pass through TOLL READERS

Sometimes my car will slow down at high speed toll booth readers and I don’t know why. These have never been payment stations with gates and my maps are the latest.

Has anyone seen this before?

I wonder if it could be related to this…

I’m at a loss why this happens. I’m sometimes expecting it and step on the gas but it does seem to pause or cancel Distronic+.

This seems like sometimes obvious I’m missing. Thanks everyone.

Try turning it off and running through one, I am guessing it’s related. The system uses GPS data in addition to info fed to the car via the front camera to slow down as it deems necessary.

As your pic states, this is mainly set up for curves in the road, however, it wouldn’t surprise me if the narrowing of the road for the toll or perhaps programming in the software for tolls that is slowing you down.

Do you have traffic Sign Assist switched on? This will cause you to slow down, unexpectedly, when using Distronic.

It's annoying but I still leave it turned on. I don't mind the idea of it, but it works more abruptly than I feel is necessary. When I had my mom in the car I was going around 80 in a 70 zone, then the speed limit changed to 60, so the car read the sign and automatically reduced speed. It really startled my mom, she thought I was slowing because I was about to hit something. BMW's have a feature where you can set your speed at a certain amount above the speed limit.

Yeah I agree it can be a bit alarming. What bothers me is that the cars behind me aren’t expecting this because no one slows down even slightly (I’m in Texas if that makes a difference). I do like seeing the speed limits on the screens and I do like to know when I’m 15 over the speed limit with the audible warning.
