Car fragrance stopped working

I refilled the fragrance jar that sits in its designed for spot in the glovebox. It worked initially but not since. I followed just what the owners manual says for this part of the climate control - I’m hoping you guys have something I don’t know about or a trick to this.

Dumb question maybe but did you double check that it isn’t turned off in the HUD? Set it to max and then turn on the diffuse air and auto everywhere.

I had a similar thing happen a couple of years ago. I noticed that the fragrance jar in my car did not have the round metal disc glued to the bottom of the jar as another spare jar had. I had actually found the disc on the floor and threw it away thinking that it was some random manufacturing thing that vibrated out from under the seat. I glued a small washer of the same diameter to the jar bottom and the fragrance started to work again. I have no idea what the function of that disc is nor if it was responsible for my "fix" but it might be worth a check. Good luck!

I’ve had the same problem. I had the dealership look at it three or more times, and each time they tell me it’s working and the scent is subtle. Meanwhile, the fragrance bottle is still full after a year+. I’ve given up on it.

I believe you are referring to the magnet glued to the bottom of the fragrance jar. It keeps the jar in it’s proper place and position.

Yeah....my jar hadn't been in it's proper place for a couple of years and would shift all over the glove box. Then one day I noticed that little magnet stuck in the correct place. The 2-sided tape MB uses for these magnets wears out over time and this is the result. So I just cleaned off the old tape residue on the bottom of the jar and JBWelded the magnet back on. Now I have a permanent fix and the jar hasn't moved out of place ever since.
