First problem. CD player

Well it didn’t take long.
I tried to insert a second Cd and cd changer had enough. Now it won’t eject or play, worst of all it makes cd changer clicking noises first minute after starting the car. After a while it stops making noises.

Anything I can do to disable or disconnect the cd player all together to get rid of those noises ? Or to take cds out somehow so it stops clicking ?
media says CD drive bit available. So I can’t even select eject. Holding the button for 10 seconds just restarts it and nothing else.

Used CD players are going for $1000 or so on every. But I just want the nosies to stop at start up. Fuse maybe just for CD player ?

Thanks.

I got lucky. This clicking from cd player was driving me insane. There were a few options and non of them were cheap.
Long story short, I was able to remove the face from the cd changer, it comes off like a 90s radio used to do. Then I started poking around with a thin screw driver and all of the sudden, by some miracle I must have touched something at the right time and the CD that was causing issues came out, cracked. For those interested, the cd in question was Pink Floyd Animals. Now I know there was one more CD in there, Dire Straits On every street, but the clicking stopped, CD changer says it’s empty and my life got instantly better. I am able to enjoy my newly acquired money pit.

Maybe this will help those in need.

Happy motoring!

Glad to learn of your success. These types of issues can drive us crazy if they're not resolved. Enjoy your MBZ!

I have that same problem. Can you provide some more info on how the face of the CD changer is removed. Then maybe I can have the same luck in stopping the clicking.

Cd changer has a small frame that surrounds it. Gently remove it. Then you have to remove the front face , it will come out along with the silver button. Once it’s off, start the car and observe the mechanism clicking. In the middle of the unit, you will see a small arm/ part of the mechanism moving around trying to eject or load the cd. You will not see the cd and I found no way to open the chrome door that is supposed to open to let the cd out. With a needle type tool try to stop the arm that you see moving around. On top of that small opening you will see wiring strip going into it, try not to damage it since I don’t know what it does.
Keep trying and with a bit of luck the stuck Cd will come out.

There was no way I was gonna spend thousands on a cd changer I would barely use. Next option was Benz Ninja who could code out the power to CD changer alone and if that didn’t work, the car would go up for sale, which I didn’t want to do 3 days into ownership.

I believe it is possible to remove the whole CD changer/ command unit, dig into the cd player to remove the stuck cd. I really didn’t want to deal with removing the center console and doing all that, but that was an option. That CD clicking shuffle was driving me insane. I timed it at about 2 minutes of cd crunching noise at every start up.

Good luck. Let us know if it works.

Thank you so much for the info. I will give it a go soon and report back.

Sorry to bug you again. I got the small frame off that surrounds the front face but cannot figure out how to get the front face off. Does it clip on somehow or just yank it off???

Thanks for your help.

Once the frame is off, its easy to grab onto the face from either side and gently pull. Pull till its comes off. Your CD player will never work again, so nothing to lose.

Thanks again. I will attack the critter tomorrow.

Do not want to save the player. Just want the clicking to go away. I use the USB slots in the console for tunes.

Finally got around to removing the CD face. I think my 2015 CD changer may be different from your 2016 model. I do not see anything moving about. Or perhaps my CD issue is different and it is more internal and thus no movement observable.

If you would be so kind to look at the youtube video of my changer and see if it appears the same as yours.

Thanks again!

Well the noise yours is making is different from mine. I dont see anything moving around in your case. Doesnt sound like its trying to load ot eject either.
If I were you, Id take the CD player out and take it apart. Not much to lose at this point.

Thanks for the response. Think I will just live with it. Too much effort to take the sucker out. Maybe it will eventually just totally croak..
