Four Wheel Alignment
There are a few things that I would like to do before taking the vehicle for a driving-trip to Boston. First. I am going to change both batteries since they are still the original ones. The main battery seems week and I’m plugging in my CTEK battery maintainer in the garage now. Second, I will change the tires. I just ordered four tires, Michelin Primacy MXM4 245/50R18 100V run-flat, from Costco and will also ask Costco to replace the TPMS.
After the tire replacement, I would like to have 4 wheels alignment done. From what I read, 222 S-560 alignment will involve ADAS/Distronic calibration. I called a few local independent shops about the alignment job, but I don’t get the impression that they have the right equipment to do it properly. So, I am thinking about reaching out to the local Mercedes dealer is Chantilly, VA for the alignment job. If you have any suggestions and could share your experience about alignment jobs from any local Mercedes dealers or independent shops, I would great appreciate it. Thank you in advance as I really enjoy reading posts in the forum.
Tires... Consider a non run flat tire. Better ride, less noise, generally last longer and cost less. I really enjoyed the Continental DWS. You will find it to be quiet, excellent in rain and more than capable in snow + surprisingly good in dry conditions.
Michelin also offers non run flats that are decent.
Where you pay attention to the car the likely-hood of a shredded tire is very low. Either way one must be watchful about pot holes. A RF tire won't save a tire or wheel from one.
As for the Alignment... Have MB do it. They will get it right and set the steering angle sensor so the car will go down the road straight.
Cameras get calibrated after a windshield or camera replacement.
I had my alignment done at the dealership and if I remember correctly, it was around $300 which I consider fair knowing that the independent shops around here charge $180.

Also doing alignment in MB dealer is worth it. Their software can align at proper height since the car is on air suspension.

Only thing they do is set the toe, all other angles are set at the factory and do not change unless and until suspension wear or damage necessitate replacing components.
