Voice command plus HUD. I hope the MBUX on the W223 is much more refined.

Based on the hole in the dash, this may indicate a huge HUD. Which would be great.

There are no more steering wheel buttons, just capacitive areas. Perfect for HUD. I see no need to require voice activation for anything.

HUD is the safest way to drive IMO.

I wonder about these complaints about MBUX.
In the US journalists complain about the system while in Germany MBUX is viewed as the best one around, beating iDrive7.

These voice assistants can never beat Siri, etc.
but work just fine in our GLE. What exact refinements are you talking about?

It may be, but I have never cared for it. Since I drive WAY slower than you , I’m fine with the current Command, although I do wish there were also buttons, knobs or switches for everything.

Not only will the HUD be massive as evidenced by the huge hole in the dash, it will be designed to project the image well in front of the windshield so you don't need to focus away from the traffic.

Sensational while driving on the Autobahn, doing 120mph, at night, but not that big a deal in metro US areas.

A car
You know why I don't get this car?

There's no way this guy signed off on the W223. GREAT interview, funny, even.

How the hell did MB go from this CEO to the W223?!

I've never had a car with HUD

Wonderful invention, that type of new tech I really dig.
Excellent for safety since it reduces significantly the time you take your eyes off the road I will never buy another daily driver without it.

Someone made an exterior rendering based on the latest spy photos. The headlights look slightly off to me on the rendering, but otherwise it seems reasonably accurate. https://www.motor1.com/news/423482/m...lass-rendered/

In general, online commenters almost always hate new model styling, and then come to appreciate them after a few years if they buy them, or remain bitter on their old model forever. The front end looks mostly OK to me, though the sensor cluster integration remains to be seen in practice. The rear end is a bit generic, but not ugly either. And based on the last video posted, the interior looks alright to me, and would probably look better with wood trim likely to be offered as an alternative to piano black scratch, fingerprint, and dust magnet material.

As much as I think the tail light configuration on the W222 is the best, most elegant S class, like all prior models it will appear dated after this is out for a while. I suspect that the same will become true of the front end as well.

Well, statistics indicate the opposite. Autobahn is the safest place to drive, city traffic the worst in terms of accidents and fatalities. Same in the US. Key is to look at where you are driving, not be distracted and have the information as close to the line of sight. HUD is best, second are the well hated high-mounted iPad-like displays.

Wether this is pretty is another questions...

Indeed.
Fighter plane tech from decades ago brought into the auto world, just like MB's excellent night vision with it's lock on technology for pedestrians and animals...

Well, shucks! You’ve convinced me. I just added HUD & Night Vision to my new car order. We can all use all the help we can get, but as we get on in years, it becomes even more important. Hope I like these goodies.

That's a very nicely specified car Streamliner, I think you will enjoy it just that much more than your 2018.

My 2015 S550 had both HUD and NIght Vision. I used the hud daily and loved it, while the night vision only came on in very limited circumstances and even then was more distraction than helpful. My current 2018 S560 has HUD but I eliminated the night vision and I don't miss it at all. The hud, however, I love. And if you use Waze thru Android Auto, it gives the HUD even more flexibility than the standard Nav does. Possibly someone who drives much more at night than I do would better appreciate the night vision - I did not.

I found Night vision distracting and somewhat worthless in the early W222's but it wasn't bad in the 2018 S560 Cab we drove in Europe. It was helpful in the Swiss Alps (small towns) where you have many pedestrians out at night and through nature terrains where you have a lot of wild life.
One can argue that it isn't worth the money but the chance of avoiding the single collision with a person or animal is definitely worth it IMO. I am with Streamliner on getting the most and latest safety tech on a car. For that reason I don't care about old or classic cars either.

I couldn't agree more. The lease on my 2019 S450 has another year and a half to go. I'm hoping I like the W223 by then.

I concur with some other folks' opinion here as well.
I wouldn't consider owning a vehicle without HUD anymore. it's literally a game changer.

Night vision, however, is not even remotely worth the $ in my opinion.
Over 6 years, over two different vehicles, I only found it truly useful once.
otherwise, the LED headlights were ALWAYS bright enough that Night Vision was just a distraction on the dashboard.

This is pretty much what we did with Night Vision...

I wish they would project as HUD some elements of night vision, in particular the humans or animals seen in infrared currently outlined in Red color on the screen.
You would be able to see a possible "runner" without taking your eyes off the road, in current set up you simply miss it if you pay attention to the road ahead of you.

I have zero complaints about MBUX. I have found it to be extremely impressive. The voice recognition is on par with Amazon, and it can understand what you mean from a wide range of phrases. I don't recall a single incident of it not knowing what I wanted. It even has a pretty funny response to the question "Hi Mercedes, tell me a joke",

Does it ever respond "The joke is on you! I'm laughing all the way to the bank!"

What does everyone else think?

Top half looks alright but the lack of the 3 light strips in the headlight denoting the S class is a bit sad.

The lower half with what looks like a open/rectangular mouth shape looks stupid. (it's like someone with a big honking nose making a stupid shape with their mouth).
