Then there's the part about having to remove and re-insert the media in order to view the recording.

One wonders how long it will take MB to catch up to the over-the-air update capabilities of a 2012 Tesla Model S.

I, too, like the saddle interior, if not the center screen integration. As for the dashcam, it is anything but sophisticated IMO. My current 4k Blackvue easily has all of the indicated features and much more, like parking protection overnight, etc. Much like the MercedesMe wifi fail over the years, the new dashcam seems to be outdated long before its availability. In these types of tech innovations, maybe MB should just use online Waze/Google Maps integration and current cellphone capabilities instead of trying to shoehorn in some outdated version of their own.

FYI—MB has the capabilities already to do over the air updates. I have had many over the air updates done on my 2019 S63. Most of what has been over the air has been navigation updates (Automatic if selected on MB’s website) and COMAND system updates but they have many (and maybe more than Tesla) capabilities but have been very selective in what they actually use vs Tesla using much more of the capabilities. My ‘14 and ‘16 S Class cars did not have the over the air updates like my ‘19.

Thanks, I wasn't aware that MB could update anything OTA on a W222. I had only read that they could update MBUX on an EQC. As you suggest, and I agree, MB does not go very far. Tesla has for instance, more than once, improved acceleration with OTA updates. My old 2016 Model S was sold as a 70 kwh unit, but the battery is physically 75 kwh...I have the option of unlocking it to 75 kwh OTA, for a fee. A couple years ago, after Consumer Reports criticized braking performance of the Model 3, Tesla did an OTA update within a matter of DAYS, that improved stopping distance by 20 feet! Hopefully MB will improve its OTA capabilities over time.

Yep. The S500 has been around for a few years in Europe all ready in the W222. It's the same 429hp I6 setup as the AMG "53" models here in the U.S. Nothing is confirmed for the U.S. market yet though, all speculation so far. There will likely also be a S450 too, same as today but with the I6 instead of the V6. I hope they make the entry point the S500 this time around. Yes S580 is the V8.

Why wasn't the model 3 delivered with the improved braking performance out of the gate? Sounds like a rush to shove something out of the door to me.

bkdc, maybe you might consider editing that post to the correct name.

...it seems the brand typically is in the bottom half of comparo results.

That is truly disgusting. The member should be given a stern warning that this type of B.S. is not tolerated. One more ugly remark like that and they should be kicked out of MBW.

it’s called 한국 or Hanguk in both mccune reischauer and revised romanization systems. The appropriate pronunciation is hangook. And it is not racist. Hankook is simply the wrong pronunciation of the word for Korea and I assume Hankook was used only to be more politically correct by some marketing guy. Any Korean would find it offensive to use the wrong pronunciation and have non Koreans destroy the pronunciation of name of their country.

like how does it sound to you, Amelican? I do really love Amelica. I bet no one in Korea would at all be offended to read “hangook”. It must be offensive only to touchy Americans who only know that the last half of the word was used as a slur. Ask a Korean buddy which he prefers. Hankook or Hangook. While you wince at the word Amelica, you might bother to google ‘hangook’ and see what you get.

Any research at all would show that Hankook/Hangook is not racist. So many folks immediately react to perceived insults without any background on the subject. Try not to be 'triggered' so easily and look for background or, God forbid - facts, before calling others out with virtue signaling commentary.
