Hello everyone. My dealer tinted the front windows and they are very different in color from the rear stock tint. What are your thoughts on what film to tint the front ones so that the same shade is as much as possible?
If you tint them darker to match, then it will be very dark at night and decrease visibility in the dark. It’s common to have a lighter tint up front for better visibility Ideal would have been light tint all around
In the United States, the factory tint on rear windows on SUVs is about 18%. I'm guessing your factory tint is about the same. Your tint shop should've did 20% tint to match the rear
Although the mis-match could look odd to some people, I think function (benefit and safety) are more important. I got a new GLE450 this year and I had the dealer put tint on the front door windows that was a bit easier to see through (lighter then the back). At the time I knew nothing about window tint other the to say to use about the same shade as the car I was trading in.
After living with it a few months, although the rear windows are much darker from the outside, looking out from the inside, it is not enough to worry about. I could have had the darker tint and still feel safe driving. As it is though, it looks just fine.
Two other things to consider are the laws in your area. I live in an area where almost anything goes as far as tint, and what isn't legal is often over looked. Where I came from, any tint was a red flag and you were likely to get pulled over. The second thing is, there is a newer kind of tint called Nano Ceramic Tint that is very high performance. It blocks most UV and IR light and is supposed to keep your car MUCH cooler. Also from what I understand, much of the benefits are achieved even without a dark color.
The new S-Class is not yet released in the United States. Can I ask what country you are in and if the new car is to you expectations? I have a '22 on order to be built July, decade 3. Meantime I hope to hear how you like yours.

My Mercedes service manager told me to wait before getting a tint on EQS as he has seen a few issues of water entering the control panel due to tint and damaging the electric system. Do any of you guys have any issues specially after car wash?

If I'm not mistaken, it's located beneath the rear deck in other Mercedes models. So if the tinter uses a lot of water when they tint the rear window, the water could leak into the control unit. Just make sure they put a towel down so nothing gets wet.
