Thanks! It was definitely an unexpected switch up. I typically enjoy sportier vehicles, however recently I've had a change in positions at work which means more travel as well as entertaining clients and needed a car to cater to these needs. The CLS while a great car, has a backseat that many would not enjoy, and I really wanted something that would soak up the road and provide the absolute most amount of comfort with supple seats, great drivers assist, and massage seats, hence S-Class, it's pretty much the only car in its class I currently like. The 7er got ugly (and the next gen looks to stay that way), Genesis and Lexus only do V6's (Inline-6 would be preferable), and Audi just isn't my taste. I also did not want an SUV (although the new Range Rover is definitely nice but not out yet either). I also recently sold my beloved Z4 M which I bought before the market was up and have sadly been having many reliability issues with it that put it out of commission for the better half of summer (and the car is only good for half the year in MD) so I took advantage of the market and got out before any more issues. I hopefully plan to buy a cheap Miata to fix my miss for fun convertibles once the weather isn't anything but freezing.
Oh yes there is a story, I'll try to keep it short. I grew up in a house of BMW's with my father having 5er's since the 70's. I've pretty much driven every generation of 5-Series. Around then I didn't have a weekend car so it was important that the daily have some sporting aspects to it. I inherited the 540i from my mother (she doesn't drive anymore) as my 330i was at 200k+ miles and suffered the dreaded cooling system meltdown that plagues many older Bimmers. Anyways about over a year with that car I had numerous gremlins from the HVAC failing in the first 10k miles, to the iDrive system crashing constantly, a sudden loss of coolant and a few tows. I pretty much got the 5-series from hell lol. On top of this, the car felt very un-BMW like, the chassis was just a let down compared to past 5-Series pre 2010, and BMW cannot figure out EPS. Funny enough in the service waiting room I read the car and driver comparison test with the E43 where it won first place and was shocked as I didn't know that MB was making driver oriented cars below the normal 63-AMG's. I kept this in mind later as in late 2018 someone hit my 5er and totaled it, and a friend of mine bought a C43 and was telling me about how MB's are making fun cars. By then the E53 and CLS53 replaced the E43 and I decided to test drive it and was impressed by the athletic handling as well as the character that the electric supercharger and 48-volt system added to the I6. Since then, the wife and I have just been buying MB's as we have a great dealer and salesman, as well as just like their current designs and drive. We still like to give BMW chances when we look, but I'm afraid their new styling direction is not winning me back which is a shame because they are getting their mojo back when it comes to driving finally.

I didn't order it, I'm friends with the GM and he told me he'd message me if any unsold S-Class' come in. I saw the red leather and was sold! The only option that was removed was active ambient lighting which while it would have been nice, I can live without it.
Thanks, I always wanted to be an automotive journalist so when I can test drive a car and offer my opinion to others who may not be able to, whether it be on here or Bimmerpost, I always take the opportunity.
I wholeheartedly agree with the bolded sentence but I am biased...

450 or 580 long or short
My dealer just lent me a 580L for a few days. Absolutely love the car so smooth. However the 580 only come LWB so i would need to go to the 450 SWB. But figure not fast enough. Hopefully somebody has driven both. Also should i order full 4 wheel steer.?
Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot.

I bought my S on a whim. Wasn't really going out to buy one because I had some fears of it being half-baked. But, Its been a couple of weeks now and I am falling deep for my S! Besides the obvious it is truly a rocket!!! You are at over 100mph and you just don't know it. I truly missed the S-Class comfort and the overall S presence.

Yes you can only run the 20inch. I am so in love with this car. Its just so smooth. So i will place an order today probably. 4 wheel steer, 4D hifi, Onyx Black, Amg line etc.

If using the MBUSA Configurator, it does look brownish.
1 is daytime look and the other is evening look.

I would think the 4 wheel steering would be more stable at high speed on the curves and lane changes but I'm not sure at what top speed, if any, it may cut out.
251 kph (155 mph) how fast do you need to go?
