S500 Straight 6 petrol turbo with 48V electric super charger mild hybrid design is plenty fast for us. Could have had the V8 if we wanted; picked the 6 for ease of repair if needed and its silky smooth running. Also we did not want any engine with cylinder de-activation included in it's design Don't get me wrong, we like German engineered V8's and still own a S500 4-Matic wagon. The V8 is easier to drive however, by that I mean the transmission downshifts less as the V8 has more torque so keeping the vehicle at speed take less thought with the gas peddle position.
I would think the 4 wheel steering would be more stable at high speed on the curves and lane changes but I'm not sure at what top speed, if any, it may cut out.

Its still not a V8. IMO, a V8 has a feel and sound that just isn't replicable with a V6 or I6. Why would the 6 cyl be easier to repair?
My dealer just lent me a 580L for a few days. Absolutely love the car so smooth. However the 580 only come LWB so i would need to go to the 450 SWB. But figure not fast enough. Hopefully somebody has driven both. Also should i order full 4 wheel steer.?

hi I have seen them both that is the SWB and the LWB but have only driven the SWB and have done that now on 3 occassions. I found that it had ample and smooth power and for me I wouldnt want the LWB. i have stated before that i would have difficulty fitting it in my garage and besides it would be my daily driver and most of the time i do not carry rear seat passengers.In fact the S500 in Canada is only sold in SWB. My difficulty is that my name is on the next S500 that should be arriving in April but I will not take the car unless it has the multi contour seats and head up AR..i believe it has the latter but even my dealer can not confirm 100% that it will have the seats. If it does not have the features that I want I will pass on it and wait until they are avaialble. My current lease is up in August and if I have to extend it I will. The dealer is ok with all of this.Incidentally the S 500 that has my name on it is Obsidian Black with a black interior. It also has the 4.5 degree rear wheel steering and the digital light package ..

Having had a SWB and LWB LS460 I would suggest you at least drive the LWB first. Its not just about rear seat space, the LWB car just feels better, grander, rides better because of the long wheelbase. I would assume the same would be true of the S Class.
Just ordered my first S class this week. I wonder if I”ll see it this Summer. Too much going on in this world to know for sure. I settled on solid black and sienna interior. It”ll be my new daily in good weather. Really excited to drive it.

Low end bass isn't great. It gets very loud without distortion. Treble is a little bright for my ears. The highest end stock setup I've had was in my 2018 LS500 with I believe 20 something speakers and 1000+ watt amp. That sound quality was actually comparable to the base system in my S580.
I think the base system is perfectly acceptable for the average person.

Thats great news, that means its a big upgrade from the base Burmester in the W222 which is a big downgrade from ML in my LS460.

Got delivery of my S450 in HCM City Vietnam. Unfortunately we do not get 4matic in Vietnam (which sucks given you are shelling out close to USD300k). We also just get a smaller HUD unit.

Does the dealer say why Vietnam does not get 4Matic? Really like to know the logic/reason.
And how come a smaller size HUD? I suppose the size of the HUD is the same for the S-class. Any pic?

BTW, is your S450 a SWB or LWB?
The only S class models that come with 4Matic in Vietnam is the Maybach range. Basically these cars are heavily taxed on the way in and Mercedes Vietnam have made decisions on what they want to include and what they don't and for them 4Matic wasn't important.
I get my car back in 2 days and will take a pic for you then but basically the HUD does not have the trailing light blue arrows of this diagram.
All S class in Vietnam are long wheel base as standard

Yes, this is the “standard” HUD. You won’t get the “trailing blue light arrows” you mention in a previous post of yours, which is only on the Augmented Reality (AR) HUD.
Well, at least you have a HUD, some cars don’t have one at all!

I understand now. What you are referring to is when navigating, at times the center screen will display the front view camera and interlayed symbols for navigation (light blue directional arrow, etc. ). I’ll try and take a pic and share.
