Anyway, I got $3k off MSRP but when I inquired about the PPM (before deposit) I was told they would look into it. After paying deposit and giving them insurance the following day, I asked again about PPM and was hit with a bunch of snarky comments basically putting me down for even asking about PPM after they did the "unheard of" thing of giving me off MSRP. To be honest, at that point I had it with the sales rep and the dealership, and I figured this is no way to be treated during the process of buying my 6th or 7th new S-class. So I told him the deal is off. A minute later he miraculously got me the PPM after pathetically saying "GM will give you the 2 years PPM if you give us 10's on our review". What? lol. Also worth mentioning the GM contacted me and asked what they can do to move forward with the sale, I think she was hinting at additional $$$ off- but I didn't pursue it further.
I'm very happy with my decision to walk away. I wasn't sold on the car 110% to begin with and the experience with the dealership sealed (or unsealed?) my choice.
It took me a few hours of calling around to find multiple S-classes for sale and a few dealers willing to go under MSRP. My thinking now is to wait until late September or October and get in a 2022, with hopefully a decent discount which I am certain there is to be had.
So if anyone wants an onyx black on sienna with flowing wood lines trim, warmth and comfort, wheel locks, rear spoiler, Y-spoke 20" wheels and is ok with with missing front multicontour front seats, go to MB of White Plains
; just make sure you get at least $5k off MSRP because why not.
