Dash Cam

Mine also initially required the manual turn on. I read on one of these forums to specifically request the ‘Zero Layer Update” and it would provide the automatic turn on. The dealer (Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach) didn’t question the software update and installed it and it is now automatic (but you must direct it to do that).
Print one of these commentaries and take it to the service advisor. Do not let them deny you the update.

From what I can gather, the answer is no. It only captures images from the front of the car. You also have to turn it on each time you start the car. It also lacks certain automatic features that start the camera recording in case of an accident. I have an aftermarket cam and it works flawlessly with a cost of $99. This integrated camera sounds like it’s a very basic camera with very basic function.

Since that post, I actually traded in my S 560 for an EQS 580 sedan. I got a 2023 model which had the automatic start function of the dash cam active. Most of the 22 models of the EQS did not have it active. A software update was also needed for them as well.

Please show your dealer the attached letter from mb usa, also tell them that your mbux has been acting up!!, dealers are usually too incompetent to look deeper in to the safety recalls. It is a 3 hour software upload. insist that you want the mbux update!!! Also you can check your vin for mb recalls. even if it does not show up there, insist on the update, tell them you could hold them responsible if something happens, as in the recall letter.
Thanks

I would definitely try a different dealer and tell them that your mbux is acting up, goes blank for no reason and comes back on randomly.
