Although MBUX has had this for couple of years, I only found about this. Seems to work well in the S580. Nice to have for the occasional time I need more precise navigation.

I don't think it was actually working in earlier NA spec vehicles. The feature is disabled in NTG 5.5 in NA for example, even though it's in the owners manual. I also only found out about it after reading the owners manual and thought it's kinda cool, but soon realized nobody is using it in North America. I thought it might come in handy to find trailheads and such, but none of the mainstream mapping apps supports it, so in order to get the three word coordinates you have to use their app or website. It would be really useful if businesses and mainstream mapping apps would use it to advertise locations. Google has their own system called Plus Codes. I think in the UK, the emergency services are using what3words, but one of the critique is that the system is proprietary, so it's unlikely to be supported in more mainstream solutions. Interesting idea, but w/o critical mass it's just not something that will be very useful.

I first learnt of this on YouTube seeing the British person nick O’Leary who has nice tutorials on Mercedes Benz. Much clearer than the official manual! Do look at his videos. Then I tried it with my mbux assistant but she didn’t understand what I was saying! It would be useful occasionally I am sure?
