I absolutely LOVE the 3D Audio system in my 2020 S560. It is the first time I ever popped big bucks for a factory system. It was our old friend Katie22 who used to rave about it that made me take the plunge and I’m so glad I did. So, I’m wondering if the 4D systems in the W223 are as good, better or did MB manage to mess it up—as has been known to happen, just talk to new GLE and 2013-2020 SL owners. Did you have 3D and now 4D? If so, how do you like the 4D?

Now that you have a W223 with 4D, what are your thoughts?

Too soon. It rained all day, so the new car sits in the garage. I still have the old one, so will drive it until they take it back. I did turn off the very annoying “seat bump” or whatever they call it.

The audio is fantastic!! I didn’t have the 3D in my prior S but I do have a very expensive audio system in my home for comparison.
I didn’t like the seat ‘bump’ at first either. Now, I enjoy it but at level 4. It would be something you have to get used to. My wife also insisted it be turned off, and female friends also. All the guys like it!!!! Some at level 8 to 10!

I have the upgraded 4D in my S580 and had the 3D in my previous S550c. The upgrade is worth it if your an audiophile like me. The dining experience alone is quite impressive. You lose most of the benefits if you listen wirelessly. You have to plug in or turn on SXM to get the full range of the system upgrade. Plus the screw in/out tweeters is sexy.

As someone who listens mostly to classical and jazz, I don’t crank up the volume like some folks who listen to rock. The 4D is great, but having no use for the “seat bump,” which I have turned off, the 4D doesn’t seem to give me any benefit over the 3D. Both systems are fantastic, in my opinion. As for the screw out tweeters, with the Active Ambient Lighting, with blues in the dash & door panels and red in the tweeters, it is a bit of a light show as well. My wife likes to fool with the lighting.

there’s also immensely more power, like 2000 watts or something and 10 more speakers. Don’t quote me on the numbers, but classical is what this system was made for. Absolutely turn off the seat bumpers, those are worthless.
