W223 Tuning

Renntech? Brabus? Someone else?
2022 S580. I'd like to change the map and get some more performance out of this v8. What company can do this and do it well?
Renntech's product is double the performance of Brabus, but the Renntech product guy is not helpful at all. Gives me a bad vibe.
Thoughts?

I'm interested in a tune as well. I believe the motor is undertuned and has another 75-100 hp in a tune. Renntech was not helpful in the past when I inquired.

'22 Alpina B7,'21 G63 Renntech obviously (wife), Wrangler(kids)
I had Renntech ECU installed in my car before even taking delivery of it.
Compared with stock 2018 S63 in some impromptu drag races and mid range passes (friend of mine is the original owner of that S63 and he was afraid about losing the warranty if caught).
Both cars were pretty much equal at all speeds.

Car
We've sold several Renntech tunes already for the new S580, simple install and good HP/TQ gains.

Youre saying a tuned W223 matched the S63 or that it was an S63 and it had the same performance with and without tune?

What is the cost? Does the ECM have to be sent in for tuning?

I believe there using a standalone/replacement ecm currently. I own a large tuning company and looked last night and cannot see the S580 for alientech or Dimmsport's protocols. When I get my car delivered next week I'll see whats installed and if it can be read/written yet

Looks like Renntech does not require you to send in your ECM to be table tuned which is a great option. Their tunes are always more than most of the competitors though.

AFAIK any type of after-market tunes will never be warrantied. You just need to find one that's 100% reversible and undetectable.

so the renntech installed at a mercedes dealership voids the factory warranty?

It’s not about who installs it it’s about the fact it’s not factory stuff and is pretty serious since it’s an actual full ECU flash. It will always be easy to find in the code even if reversed. I spoke with a guy at Novitec who said if I wanted it to be undetectable I’d have to use some other thing that intercepts the codes sent by the computer to the engine and rewrites it on the fly rather than recoding the computer itself. Once you unplug that one it’s undetectable.

I forgot the name but tomorrow I’m calling in to have my Maybach tuned whenever they’re next available so I’ll let you know the name of the product.

True That. The only way to really reverse IF your programming your factory ecm, is to restore the complete backup, eeprom data and all. Tuners only flash MAPS area when modding the engine, however, alot of stuff gets stored in the eeprom which is typically how alot of people run into trouble afterwards when using handheld tuners like kess/genius when flashing as they wont read/restore eeprom. Needs to be bench tuned for complete backup. I know BMW dealerships will do Alpina and Dinan, they do it by me in NYC/NJ and warranty them. I know Brabus will warranty the engine if you have it tuned through them, not sure about renntech though. They are in Florida so someone in that neck of the woods should inquire and see what they say. Those are some REALLY nice gains for a standalone device. I believe this can be reversed though by just removing as its a standalone module and there harness which connects to a few sensors

Yes what you’re talking about is what I’m going to get. It’s a standalone device that connects to sensors and intercepts them so it never actually gets written into the computer. They advertise up to 125hp gains but Novitec agreed with me it’ll likely be 80-100hp for a thousand bucks. That’s a great deal. Puts my V8 Maybach at almost V12 power but with the 4Matic advantage. I’ll have a longer wheelbase S63 lol.

EDIT: My buddy just switched to an E63S W213 and that’s what really pushed me to want to get this bad boy tuned as the AMG’s so fun but I like the comfort of the Bach. I test drove an S63 and it’s also just too stiff and I’m used to the back of the Bach now which is unmatched by any vehicle other than the W223 version.

Yea i think this is best idea especially when your still under warranty. Worst case scenario it would just get unplugged and you would reset any dtcs with any real scanner, or preferably a star mux.

I actually found out recently I’m out of warranty but I’m too lazy to drive up to West Palm Beach (90ish miles) to have it tuned by Renntech. I can buy this, have Novitec install it 30 mins from me and enjoy my elongated S63

Yea I'd probably do the same thing. I tune trucks. tractors, and heavy machinery all day and never really mess with cars unless a friend or client needs his cats removed, etc. But I'm the guy who always has the extended warranties on everything so I never really mod my own vehicles lol. Im looking forward to my car being delivered this week after spending a week with one in Vegas last month. Really curious to see how this EABC works for this big vehicle

Leave the S580 alone. It is plenty fast as it is. If you have a need for speed, get one of these for trips to the super market:
