Additional Apps in MBUX

Hi, what apps do you have installed in addition to the default?

I’m curious to know what apps, if any, can be user installed?

See attached pix. Before zero layer update the apps folder just had the Energizing Coach app and now also has Gallery ( which includes, God forbid, Collision Photos).

Wow! Over 100 views and no one seems to have (or care about) the apps in their MBUX?

Were those pre-installed or did you load any of them afterward?

Also, does anyone know how to load these apps?? (Or any others)

I believe they appeared after I performed an update and changed to Zero layer.

My understanding is that all the additional apps need to be purchased from the Mercedes Me Store (whatever is available locally).

We don’t have the DashCam either. I’m thinking of installing the MB accessory. See pic.
Also, what’s the “In-car Office app?” Can you take a pic when you get a chance? Thanks.

I thought DoctorDash was from the US, perhaps mistaken but he had the dash cam app. Installing a camera and feeding power is quite a bit of work and silly when the car already has the necessary HW and SW, just the app needs to be released for each market. I'll keep waiting for the app release.

I'll let Nick explain the in car office app:

i am in the US, so we have the Dashcam app. It's actually really nice, I just threw a 512GB sdcard into the usb slot and let it rip. I watched a video on how much it actually uses that should get me some serious time. Since I'm still waiting on plates and cannot drive the car the other day I took it for a joy ride and two blocks from my house some bananahead crashed into a car right in front of me and the dashcam caught the whole thing. I remember saying to myself man this thing comes in handy. Luckily it wasn't my vehicle

Do you review the DashCam video in the car (on center console screen)? Or do you access the video on the SD card on a computer?

Ive reviewed it in the vehicle, I gotta check it out on the PC and see how good the quality is. It looked ok in the car, not as good as the one I have in my other car but thats a standalone front/rear. But hey its free and working lol

Unsmart Dashcam

My car has a Dashcam, has 13 cameras in it for ParkAssist, but the Dashcam does not start automatically! It is so stupid to have a Dashcam in the car and then have to go into the Mercedes Me App and ask to "Start Recording" every time you get into the car and Start Engine. So, MB expects the driver in the US, to go manually and start the Dashcam after the car is put in gear - the Dashcam does not start recording as long as the car remains in Neutral. Who thought of this stuff, I wonder!!! If this was an issue with different country or state laws, they could have allowed the Owner to simply select a configuration for auto-start of the recording, thus absolving the manufacturers from lawsuits! Pretty useless. I might as well buy a dashcam from Amazon and hang it on the windscreen!!!

In the US we have auto-start. There is an option to turn it on, everytime I start the vehicle it starts recording automatically. If you enable LOOP recording, it will start when the car starts

Auto-start?

Are you sure?
I read that this auto-start is NOT available in US (for silly legal reasons), and I can't find any way to set it!
Please let us know if in fact you CAN set it up!
Thank you!

Yes 110% auto start for dashcam is enabled and working every time I start the car. Ive been joyriding with no plates so I just was checking it out 10 minutes ago. In order for AutoStart you just have to set LOOP RECORDING.

I have just returned from trying this out! My car has a 512 GB USB stuck into one of the USB-C slots and I was on "Individual Recording" setting on the Dashcam. Reading your messages I went to the car and changed the setting to "Loop Recording". Now, I hit Start and put the car in Drive and the car was recording the video. When I stopped and pulled to the curb and put the car into Park, the Dashcam was still recording. When I now hit the Ignition Start/Stop button, the car dashboard instruments shut down - as they should. Then I stepped out of the car and shut the door. Then I entered the car again and started the Ignition, put the car in Drive and ............. NOTHING!! The Dashcam did not start recording again. Therefore, I am countering what you are claiming. You might be having some special software that is doing an "auto-start" for recordings of your Dashcam upon starting the car. If I've missed anything, do let me know; I did not find any specific settings that tell me to put into Loop Recording mode to have the car "auto-start" the recording.
However, thanks for your contribution to the thread.

I'm in the US and the car does not have what you are referring to as 'auto-start'. I see no option to turn it on. LOOP recording does not start the recording when I start my car.

The European manual describes auto-start for the dashcam:
https://moba.i.mercedes-benz.com/bai...0ef-en-GB.html

Perhaps a SW release issue in the US, do you all have the zero layer update. Or could it be state dependent?

I do NOT have a zero layer yet.
Also, read on this forum a few months ago that this feature is specifically disabled in US.

Where does MB get their lawyers from!!!? It is so disappointing to have a dashcam in the car and for it to not be used for it being inconvenient! Only in the US would one see such things !!

Mercedes Me or Mercedes Me Connect?

Maybe I am confused, but the way I understood was that the Mercedes Me app is for Europe and for the US/Canada markets it is the Mercedes Me Connect. For me, registering the car by scanning the driver-door jamb sticker through the M-Me Connect App, and then calling the Mercedes Benz 1-800 was very straightforward, and convenient and he set me up without any issues at all. I liked the experience (versus what I am reading on the forum), and was set up as needed. It can do everything it offers and is not an issue; I wish it could allow me to set up the f/w so that the Dashcam can auto-start when I start my car - it doesn't. As for the "Mercedes Me" App, I saw that it hadn't much utility for me and I uninstalled it from my mobile. A screenshot of what I am talking about is attached. Thanks!
