yes, try to be patient. don't plan any long trips so you are always close to your dealer next time something comes up. also set aside some money in case you have to rent a car in case your $156 Mercedes needs service. you should expect issues given your excessive usage of over 100 miles a week. please be reasonable.

It really is pretty sad that a purchase like this instead of filling you with joy fills you with regret. I am definitely going to make my opinion known if/when I get a survey. In no way should this be accepted as "the norm", "the world we now live in", "your car is an appliance" or any other excuses.
I hope your issues get resolved, but I think many of us will move to a different car before the warranty is up for many reasons including switching to electric. I hope Mercedes sorts things out before my next car, or maybe I will have to look elsewhere?

By the way, not sure if this has been brought up before. Has anyone noticed how rough downshifts are? My other favorite is while stopped at a red light, with either the HOLD function or the Distronic holding the car and the auto-engine shutoff is enabled, the car decides that it needs to restart itself, the car jerks so violently that I get scared, thinking it's about to lurch into the car in front of me.

This is my 3rd car with the start/stop function. My Jaguar was like you describe and I had to defeat the function to maintain sanity. My 2021 GLE450 was much better, but still noticeable. On this 2021 S580 I can not tell it is in use except to look at the tachometer. If yours is that noticeable there must be another defect and it needs service.

Dave is very good. I would recommend you call and ask for him to be assigned as your service writer. Their service department is not a 10, but not bad. Like you said loner cars are not as available since the pandemic (anywhere), but Dave will try to make any shortcomings right. On the other hand, I had a list of issues that I brought on my first visit and they said most of them were normal operation. I agree your complaints are real and valid, but I wouldn't expect them to re-engineer the car to solve any or all of them. They will fix defects, but not complaints of the way things work.

loaners are available, but scheduling service with one is usually about 2 weeks out or so. If you use the shuttle you can get an appointment in a few days or in this case the next day.

There are loaner cars, but it seems that greedy dealers sold off a large number of them because of the car shortage situation, so they don't even let you know it's an option. When you call to schedule, they ask you whether you will need to use their shuttle or you have your own transportation from the dealership. You have to ask for a loaner and they let you know what the availability is like. I scheduled yesterday (7/5) and the first available loaner was on 7/14. I don't mind waiting, since none of my issues are making the car undrivable, although if my Check Engine light didn't go away, I would be without a car. Also, the days of upscale loaners for customers with higher-end models are over, these days all you get is a base GLC, even if you bring a Maybach in. I was making fun of my friend for paying $2700/month to drive a GLC while his S580 was stuck at the dealer for over two months. I wonder what the service is like on the Bentley/RR side. If I wanted a crappy car with crappy service, I would've picked up Tesla Model X Plaid that was waiting for me on the lot and I didn't pull the trigger on.

A few weeks ago I had an appointment with a shuttle as no loner was available for 2 more weeks. Things went south on the service and all of a sudden they had a loner for me. I suspect they hold a few loners back for these cases. I have an 2021 S580 and the 3 times I got a loner, it was an E-Class.
