Not sure if you're old enough to remember when Porsche marketed their cars in the US with the e left off the end, you know, Poorsh? As far as I can remember BMW never marketed their cars in the US as BMV. The Japanese have allowed their brands to be incorrectly pronounced here, also, for as long as I can remember. It seems to me that in some cases incorrect pronunciations stem from this kind of marketing, where someone decided it would be better to "Americanize" the name, or just decided against correcting us.

I can say for sure that I didn't realize how many names I was not pronouncing correctly until I started traveling. Now I'm a little bit ashamed of myself for not knowing better and trying to improve, but it's a work in progress.

The G90 was mentioned several times as an alternative. This reviewer says the acoustic and ride comfort is noticeably inferior to the S580.

The recordings were made the same day on the same roads, with presumably the same mic position. The Genesis to my ear sounds louder and less pleasant.
MB in my experience takes acoustic comfort further than (all) others, not just reducing sound levels but eliminating annoying and distracting noises too. The kind of stuff you don't pick up in the first few rides, but over time becomes irritating.

I would agree with that. The W223 is an amazingly quiet car—as long as no squeaks or rattles develop. I had two rattles develop in my 2022 S580 that only made themselves heard over sharp bumps in the road, but they were there. I also believe the standard AirMatic equipped W223 has better ride quality than the G90. The G90 is close and getting better, but it’s still not ready to compete with the Germans, especially at the dealer level. Until Genesis has many, purpose built, stand alone dealerships, the brand will really suffer. In that regard, they should have followed the Lexus plan and built the dealerships before launching the brand.

@Streamliner I heard that many new buyers have already been picking up their new 7, X7, X5, etc. Did you end up getting yours? My local dealer is prioritizing parts/fix for new owners who already confirmed their order.

No, Mercedes-Benz does not use that ending to refer to any of their vehicles. Instead, they use Klasse, or Class in English (S-Klasse, E-Klasse. SL-Klasse is technically not incorrect, but Mercedes-Benz and most others generally just refer to it as Der Mercedes-Benz SL).

Definitely not nicknames, they have been used in official BMW literature, both internally and for marketing/advertising purposes. For example, they are currently presenting Der Neue BMW 1er, which is the new BMW 1 Series, or Die Neue BMW 5er, the new BMW 5 Series. Same deal with Die BMW 7er, all official names used to refer to these vehicles. However, this ending is not used at all with the X models, which is why they also do not use the word “series” in English for those.

Has there been an issue lately with CLAR-LG vehicles? Does this mean the 8er is also affected?

Adding "er" suffix to the end of numbers is just part of German linguistics to make it grammatically correct due to the way their language handles numerical adjectives and nouns. The “er” ensures the number and the noun are properly connected.
  1. Series in German: The word “series” translates to “(Bau-)reihe” in German.
  2. Grammatical Structure: In German, when you want to describe a series with a number, you can’t just place the number directly before the noun. For example, “3 Reihe” (3 series) isn’t correct.
  3. Adding the “er” Suffix: To make it grammatically correct, Germans add the “er” suffix to the number, resulting in “3er Reihe.” This suffix helps to properly link the number with the noun, making the phrase clear and correct in their language.
  4. Common Usage: Over time, this has been shortened in everyday German to just “Drei-er BMW,” which everyone understands to mean the 3 Series BMW or 3-er. Drei is 3 in German.

I totally get it, but we're speaking english not german. Its like when people accentuate the accent when they say things like "margarita" to make yourself sound worldly.

We're not too exciting around our house. For us it's either the 5 Series or X3. We don't say Bimmer either lol.

As far as I can determine, only a relative handful of vehicles affected by the Stop-Sale have been delivered. The vehicles are being dealt with on a case by case basis. My 2024 I7 has been sitting at the BMW VDC since August 5th. The dealer has told me “in about two weeks” so many times that I just laugh when I hear it. Today, I asked for a quote on ordering a 2025. If they will agree to allowing me to keep the 2024 order in, just in case it happens to actually become available in the near future, I will place an order for a 2025.

The good news is that the terms on the ‘24 have improved significantly since I placed my order. The original lease payment quoted was $1,778. Currently, it is $1574.

That's the point. When am in Germany, it feels 100% normal to hear or use (It's just like adding "series" after 7-series in English" or class "after S-class in English" though the meaning is different - but you get the point. Here around, in the US, especially in a context written/spoken in English, it feels awkward, which is why I laugh sometimes when I see BMW users on BMW forums using it in an English-written post.

Good luck. I'd write a thread in the 7-series, X7 and X5 forums and around if most people are getting their cars now. From what I can see, the majority have received or are receiving their cars this week.
1500sh per month for in i7, yet xDrive60, and spec'd like yours, is an outstanding deal for a car like that to be honest.

Evidently we're even more boring around my house: We call them my car, and your car. As used in a sentence...

Her: Do you want to take my car, or your car?
Him: Let's take my car.

Well, you are obviously more informed than I:

As previously mentioned, my 2024 I7 has been at the Port Hueneme VDC since August 5th. Yesterday, I asked the salesman to quote me on ordering a 2025 and he said he would.

This morning, out of sheer frustration, I decided to call the general sales manager at the dealership and, lo & behold, he tells me that they just received notification that my car has had the necessary repairs done at the VDC and will be on a truck to them this afternoon! How crazy is that??? This is very exciting news! I sure hope I like it.

Awesome! Glad I was able to help at least by poking u. Everyone I know got a positive answer the minute the called. If you waited another month, the dealer was not going to call I bet. They’ve been releasing all cars to those who have been pushing. Depending on the product date, some of them was just a software update.
