Navigator preferences

Hello,
I am looking for the preferences (that I believe I have set previously, may NOT be on this S500): to choose the shortest or fastest route.
At the moment, it always select the shortest, even at the cost of a few more minutes.
Any way I can change that?

P.S. On a couple of occasion, I saw that after I took an alternative route (compared to what NAV suggested), BOTH the mileage and time to destination decreased.

I have noticed that HERE, the navigation service our cars use, often picks a route different than does Google Maps or Apple Maps; often adding time to the journey. In the HERE WeGo iOS app, you can pick Fastest or Shortest route in settings. But even still, the route often differs from Google or Apple. I've gotten in the habit of confirming the route HERE suggests with Apple Maps before heading out. I still prefer HERE as it tightly integrates with MBUX and the HUD.

As for your question, I see the option in the mobile app, but don't recall seeing it in the car. I'll check and confirm when I head out to lunch later today.

If I recall correctly, they got rid of this setting in MBUX and the owner's manual is not very detailed, but if the option is still there, it should be under Route, but as it says in the owners manual, the route is calculated with a short journey time as in fastest route.

In car navigation systems tend to route top down, meaning they use the biggest roads such as highways and thoroughfares first and only use side roads for the last mile. Google Maps etc. are known to route traffic through residential streets etc. that are not designed to handle the traffic. This can be a shortcut at times, but you may find yourself confronting speed bumps, 4 way stops every block etc. Around here the routes I see between Google Maps etc. and the MB navigation are too close to call. They are maybe a couple of minutes apart, which is easy to lose if you end up stuck at a red light or unprotected left turn longer than expected, so it often ends up being a wash at the end. Traffic is dynamic, so I tend to stick with the route that takes me on roads with multiple lanes, so I can pass slower cars. Too often I was tempted by a supposedly faster route, just to end up stuck behind a slow poke on a one lane road.
