This would be relevant if the thread was about your personal vehicle choice. We somehow got of course talking about EVs. The thread is about somebody owning the high performance variant of the S Class complaining about the ride and some of us have been trying to provide OP with an understanding of the mission of the car. So let's get back on topic. Do you have anything to contribute other than that you wouldn't buy an S63 in the first place?

What do you have to contribute? Where is your S63? Have you even driven one? Worry about yourself and your own contributions.

LOL! You are punching above your weight. I live in the AMG world. I don't just own an AMG. I just got back from testing the latest AMGs. You drive a sofa a wheels. Stick to what you know.

So you haven't driven an S63? Got it.

Like I said, worry about your own contributions. Everybody is allowed to participate in the discussions here, you have zero place to question the contributions of anybody here especially since you also don't own the car in question.

I have, but that's besides the point. I have driven pretty much every recent AMG. As I said, you are out of your comfort zone. Putting you on my ignore list now, so I stop wasting my time.

I can’t speak to MBC as I never owned a car with it for too long, but am not a fan…. only couple members or so on this forum with S65, and they are mostly silent. I always got the impression that MBC takes away from comfort level for regular/city roads and can be a bit stiff (definitely that how it’s for the GLS, and I felt the same before I bought my last W222). I drove the G12 BMW M760 (V12) which comes standard with DHP package, but never got the chance to even sit in an S65. M760 felt like ultimate luxury packaged in a rocket…

MBC is simply the ABC suspension with camera/software. It is a fully active suspension and vastly superior to MB’s Airmatic in the S-Class but was limited only to RWD.
It was definitely better than anything that BMW had to offer as well.

Past tense as it stopped with the S222. Perhaps you are thinking E-ABC

If you only drive 80 mph max, then a much less powerful EV will do the job. The German Autobahn is the ultimate proofing ground for performance road cars, so that's what I use to judge these and I also drive there regularly, so it's not just theoretical.
Driving an EV on the autobahn just saps the range out of an EV, including the Lucid.
Drove an Air GT in Bavaria at speed, which it does very nicely btw.
Drove around for 50 miles at 150-170mph (officially locked to 168mph). Very composed, not very noisy, decent braking and very good acceleration from 120+.
Range dropped by 125 miles. Still miles better than the German EV’s.

You're right... I mixed things up with E-ABC, which is what GLS SUVs get too..

Magic Body Control or “MBC” was, in my opinion, THE best suspension option ever offered by MB. I had three W222’s with it and those were the best riding, best handling big sedans I have ever experienced. It is such a shame that this spectacular and highly refined system was dropped in favor of EABC.

The whole world does not want or need AWD and I feel that MB should have kept 4-Matic and MBC optional on the W223, as they were on the W222. When I think of how truly magnificent the W223 could have been, if only MB had simply further refined the W222, rather than starting with a completely new design, it is just so depressing. They are currently paying the price for that decision with W223 sales way off and customers, such as myself, looking elsewhere. Oh well.

That got me curious, is RWS the reason why all W223 have AWD in North America, is it a mechanical limitation?

My 223 is superior to my 222 in basically every way. Better riding, better driving, better performance, better technology, quieter. Don’t miss the 222 at all. Just sayin.

not the post you are replying to but I got curious, did the W222 have MBC though? Is the W223 you are driving the base suspension or the upgraded (but not E-ABC)? There were problems with E-ABC on the W223.

No, both my 222 and my 223 are on airmatic. I have never driven a 222 on MBC or a 223 on eABC. The cars to me both have incredible rides and the upgraded suspensions aren’t compelling IMO

But seriously having had both cars, I don’t get the hate for the 223. If you have one that’s a ton of problems THAT I get, but my 223 is about to roll over 4k miles and it’s been great (knock on wood) and I see no reason outside of it preference for design why anybody who likes the 222 wouldn’t love the 223.

To me it’s like Lexus with the LS, I had an LS400, LS430 and two LS460s. People with LS430s constantly run the 460 down but I see no reason why…the 460 is everything the 430 was just better.

I'm always impressed by how far afield we can get with a simple question which was easily answerable in one sentence. The question: Interested to hear how everyone who owns the new 2024 AMG S63 feels about the ride. And look at us go; I can't help but chuckle: We do good work!

2017 AMG S65 Cab 2024 S63 AMG e Performance
I am considering trading my 2019 S65 for a 2024 S63 e Performance. Based on what I’ve read in this thread regarding ride, I asked the dealer if I could take the car in which I’m interested for a test drive. The dealer was very gracious and let me drive it Saturday. I found the ride spectacular in both comfort and Sport. I didn’t try Sport+. We drove over interstate roads as well as bumpy city roads. In addition, the sales guy who came with me took us over some really rough roads, twisty roads. The car handled everything we threw at it with no issue. Handling in the curves was great as well. The car didn’t handle like it weighed 5700 pounds. Anyway, I was impressed and would not hesitate to buy it assuming we can come to terms on pricing.

I am sure the ride improvements are there gen after gen (or even facelift after facelift), ie. the C 63 S pre-facelift ride was bad and facelift improved it, ie. the E 63 S pre-facelift ride was bad and facelift improved it.

It does seem like Mercedes is now making the ride more comfortable on their newer AMGs. Thankfully, the improvement in ride did not (as far as I am concerned) affect the handling of the vehicle.

Then there is also the 5 (?) year old suspension on the 2019 versus a new suspension on the 2024.

I think it has to do with the tire pressure, maybe that is why some are experiencing a rough ride others find it fine. It is generally overinflated from port to prevent flat-spotting when sitting too long. There are two pressure values, one on the door sill and the other on the fuel cap door, the latter is the better value to use.

Everybody's definition of a "rough ride" is different too.
