rear wheel steer option 2025
Looking at the option for rear wheel steer, I am wondering if all S580's come equipped with the mechanical components? Based on the price of $1,300 I am presume it's optioned by code because the components have to be cost considerably more than that.

Don't tell that to the coders who have been unlocking it. What I'm not sure if it's whether the hardware is actually there; I can recall people with 4.5 going to 10, but not whether someone without has added it via coding.

All the hardware is there. They make 1300 pure profit by unlocking it
I would worry about warranty issues with coders. I know they say it doesn't affect warranty, but I don't trust it. I'd love to hear from anyone who has different information though

I just checked for a European W223 that does not have rear wheel steering, it did not have any of the parts installed. It could be different for US cars though, I'd check with the chassis code from Parts Information system.

If the US specs do not include the chassis components I'd be surprised. The parts alone would exceed the $1,300 option. Not saying I'm right, just would be surprised.

The rear wheel steering option is priced at 1300 Euros in Germany (excluding VAT). The same price for 4.5 and 10 degree steering.

I'd love to know more about this, as I am considering the purchase of a new S580, but feel like the rear wheel steering I have on my current EQS would be a requirement. Is it only offered on the more expensive higher optioned models of the S580?
