Oh the selenite will stay cleaner for sure. Mine never looks dirty...but it also never looks *amazing*. Thats the tradeoff with a darker vs lighter car.

Did graphite first appeared on the W223 or was it carried over from another MB model?

Not sure, it wasn't available on the W222 though, they had a more black/grey, magnetite black.

Awesome ride. I have graphite as well. Awesome color. It looks almost black in low light conditions and has a colorful metallic hue during the day in the sun. It’s hard to describe unless you see it for yourself.

It might well be then, I also find an article comparing selenite and graphite: https://thecarguider.com/mercedes-grey-colours

not a good article as it uses fake AI generated images for illustration purposes though.

You get used to the buttons on the wheel. Some of them respond well to a short swipe, you may hear a faint click, then in a moment the station changes, the volume adjusts, the speed is adjusted, the menu changes. It actually takes less effort than a larger physical button, but is quite a shift in mentality. Give it some time before passing final judgment.

Hopefully I eventually get used to the touch controls (not sure if it had haptic feedback).
I'll reserve my judgement until I give it enough time, but the initial adaptation didn't work out too well for me.

Question,

Can you take a picture of the HUD itself (dashboard picture)

I see it on the outside interior shot but looking the "top" and also how long is it.

Looks like it is wider than the rest of the MB fleet.
Sorry for the delay.
Here are a few pics of the HUD.
It’s a huge bezel but I don’t see reflections of it on the windshield, at least not enough to bother me.
From the driver’s perspective, it’s not visible when driving.

Very intresting. So they made the HUD higher, almost like the old dashes.

Geezes that thing looks huge..is that like 12 inches wide (the hud opening)?

Kind of look like those used in a PDR facility as well.

Yeah, they're the hexagon garage lightings commonly found in Amazon or Ebay.

Installed the ghost links over the weekend to get rid of the wheel gap ever so slightly.
I had the links about 2-3mm shorter than stock which will translate to about 10mm lower overall.
The car sits perfectly IMO.
This is in Sport suspension mode.

That is a nice subtle lowering. It looks great. Any impact on ride quality?

Thank you. No, none at all.
Also, correction on the post - the links need to be set LONGER than stock to have it lowered.
I had it set about 2-3mm longer than stock links to have it lowered about 10mm (less than half an inch)

Here’s the car after some modifications since I took delivery 3 weeks ago.
- Full Xpel Stealth PPF
I think it gives the car a more mean look. But I think the gloss Graphite Gray looked very classy.
- Pinstripes & piano trim
I never was a fan of the original wood trim. The pinstripes give the interior a more contemporary look.
- 4D tweeter
It gives a more vibrant look with the silver dome. Highs aren’t suffering IMO but the full freq sweep might say otherwise.
I’m happy with the way it turned out.
- Ghost links
Less than a 1/2” drop was what I needed.
Looks perfect in Sport mode.

Once I put on the custom wheels coming in a month or two, I’m done with modifying her the way I want it to be.
Can’t believe how much I’m enjoying the drive every time I take her out.

You replaced the trim inside? What did that set you back?

Yeah, the stock 'wood' trims looked a little too old school for me.
I searched for the trims with open pore wood & silver lines, but couldn't find a good source.

Ended up getting the piano black/silver pinstripe ones from ebay - $800 shipped after taxes and fees.

Thats great...cheaper than the original option! Did you install them yourself or did a shop do it?

Yeah, it was cheaper than going with the factory option, which would've cost me around $1300 I believe.
But had I given the choice, I would've gladly taken it only because these are non-OEM trims shipped from China.

As for the quality, I think they're on par with OEM trims. No surprise given the fact that many Mercedes parts are sourced from China.
They weigh about the same, the matte chrome strips are similar quality and the ambient light strip for the LED modules are about the same quality as the OEM trim.
One thing I noted that was missing was some sort of a grounding strip & washer at the corner of 2 the dash trims.
Not sure what purpose those serve but it looked like some kind of ESD protection measure.

I haven't seen the OEM pinstripe trims in person so I can't directly compare the looks of it but I have no complaints in terms of fitment.
They all snapped into place without any issues and I have no rattle or buzzing noise after installation.
The seller stated that they are manufactured the same way as OEM pieces: laser etched lines followed by silver paint fill.
I did make sure to sound deaden anything that may generate any kind of noise and even with 2 broken clips during disassembly, the car is solid as a vault.

I have done many car audio DIY projects in the past and I have to say the S-class is designed and built like no other cars I've touched before.
The amount of material that were put in for insulating the cabin is on another level.

Yeah the dash is pretty easy to take apart, but it is well constructed I agree...
