Newbie question: how to properly turn off your S-Class

Ok, this one might be a bit of a surprise. But, how do you properly turn off your S-Class???
I had several w222 and now my second W223 and I always do it like this:
1. Come to fullstop by braking with the normal brake
2. Push the start/stop button while foot on brake.

That's it, car goes automatically in P and automatically activates the parking brake.

I would have never questioned this proccedur, if not in the manual of a Audi A8 2024, it is strongly adviced to do it like this, overwhise it would harm the transmission:
1. Come to fullstop by braking
2. Manually switch the parking brake, while foot on brake
3. Manually go into P
4. Turn off engine.

And also, I am getting lately a yellow parking brake warning signal saved in my electronic manual in the system settings. But not in my driving cluster???

I suggest you get a copy of the Owner's Manual for your ride and read it thoroughly front to back. It is full of key information as well as common misunderstood functions such as how to turn off your engine. You can get an electronic copy online at MB for free.

The method you described is an unorthodox method and MB identifies the electronic control safeguards they have installed to prevent hazards when someone improperly (shuts off/parks/gets out of the vehicle).

Below are a few images of the particular section on how to properly turn off your engine and park the vehicle:

YES, very much so. MB provides several safeguards and warnings about misuse and uncommon but permissible actions.

For example... It is possible to shut off your engine while driving down the road. MB gives instructions on how to accomplish this task but also indicates you should NOT do this. MB then continues with the description of what will take place if you choose to shut down your engine while driving and the associated hazards.

If you accidentally did this, don't if you didn't, pressed park at a specific low speed threshold, vehicle engages (you literally hear it clicking until the vehicle is stopped) parking pawl until it is stopped. Other times if you are at the same low speed (forgot what speeds) and open driver door, vehicle will hard brake and forcefully engage parking pawl and park.

You’re doing it right for the Mercedes. The system is designed to handle everything automatically when you just push the button to turn off. The Audi has a different procedure for its specific transmission. That warning in your manual is likely just a glitch in the software, not related to how you’re shutting the car down.

You obviously did not read the manual either because Mercedes specifically says NOT TO DO THIS in the manual.

The system is designed to compensate for those people who either refuse or are incapable of reading the owners manual to understand the basic functions such as turning the engine off.

Safeguards...that is what Mercedes has incorporated into the design to prevent people from doing things that could be hazardous. For example, shutting off your car and getting out without putting the car in park or setting the parking brake would allow the car to roll away and cause damage/harm.

Want more evidence? Here is another screen shot of the W223 owners manual with the step-by-step procedure to shut off your car:
