I hope the fitting on the hood is the same as the current ones.
If so, I'm definitely getting that lighted star.

Also late 40s here, it seems too much to me.

I'm in my 20s and love the lit up hood ornament (as long as it looks like the normal metal one in the day). Otherwise, I agree that the stars and branding are too loud and come off tacky. The taillights have grown on me but the headlights are horrific imo. It's like you're screaming at anyone who looks into the rear mirror. Sure it's an impressive feat to cram the laser projectors into start logos but it's so ugly compared to previous generation headlights. The grille is disappointing as well but I'm holding out hope since the car was in cammo. Maybe it won't light up with star logos.

In the video, Ola said "the whole grille has a new status-oriented prestige type of look." It was jarring to hear but makes sense. I don't think they're aiming for the new generation, rather the "new-money/loud-money" crowd. There is no denying driving an MB is a status symbol but it seems they are tryna to push it as far as they can...

+2! I really hope they don't go over the top with this lighting trend... lit up grilles, hood ornaments, and overly ornate headlights is a bit too much. Otherwise, I fear I'll be moving on from the S-Class. However, reserving judgement until the full release. 🤞🏽

Maybe they could swap the illuminated star with one of these from the 1940's. Would be the ultimate "Hey, look at my car" accessory:

I remember the old searchlights. Back in the day, car dealerships, gas stations and new retail businesses would rent them for special events etc. Good times.
