Ceramic Pads
Hi All,
Wanted to replace the brake pads on my 2022 S580 4Matic Sport with ceramics to reduce the brake dust.
Has anyone done this and what pads would you suggest?

I’ve had Powerstop Z23 ceramic pads on my W222 for 2 years/33k miles. Much less (almost none) dust, slightly softer initial bite upon application, but still activates ABS if firmly applied.
Very cost effective as well. Check Rock Auto for prices.
It’s no problem to use ceramic on your existing rotors. That’s what I did. No noise at all.

I wonder if it’s an issue of multiple suppliers for the same part. I always used MB pads on the wife’s E350. Three sets had minimal dust. This set dusts like the original pads on the W222 - wheels are black after a trip around the block.

My AMG GLE63 (red calipers) is horrible about dust / rust where my S580 it is a non issue. Really what suprises me is the on the AMG even though the dust / rust has always been a nightmare the pads are lasting just as long so I assume the cause must be the rotors on it

‘26 S63, ’19 E63s wagon; prior: SL55; CLS55; G63, GT-R
My 2026 S63 (with iron rotors) is terrible on brake dust (even with VERY modest brake-in driving going on). My E63 with full ceramic rotors and pads, basically none. The S throws off significantly more dust, even than my very heavy ‘21 Defender. When the time rolls around to change pads, I’ll look for a lower dust option for sure.
