Set Interior Temp With Remote Start - Finally

Did you guys get this update in the Mercedes app today? You can now set the interior temp with remote engine start. Until now, I believe only the EQ models allowed that.

That would be awesome if truly possible. Really love that.
Right now my GLS, and my i7, simply default to "Auto" for remote start.

How did you enable this for the W223? Did you update the app, or the car software?

Got a notification on iOS that the feature was now available in the app. Opened the app, and there it was.

This is awesome. Can you share what is the release/version of your Mercedes app?

Update: Oh wait, I just tried my 3-weeks old Mercedes app, and tried to do a Remote Start, and I can see the AC temp control for 4 zones in my GLS!. That's awesome. I didn't see a notification but maybe my wife's phone got that notification.

Thanks for sharing. I actually like this feature. My Tesla had that feature and really loved the feature on the very cold days to super-heat the interior, and same on very hot days, at least until am in the car.

Well, I just got the notification couple minutes ago.
I think the feature has been available for 3 weeks already. But notifications are being sent just now.

My app was updated when I tried to confirm this feature and the new version has it!
Thank you, Mark!

Right, should be able to turn them all on, or have a setting where they come on if the remote start is used and outside temp is below a certain threshold. Thats how it works on my Chrysler. MB should work at least as well as that!

I have had the temp icons for a while, but as of yesterday, they would not light up when I touched them. I'll have to look again now that this update is out

I don't understand why the engine cuts off (after remote start) as soon as you unlock the door. Security? My Volvo would keep on running, but you needed the key fob with you and you had to press the start button before you could drive the car. Seems secure enough.

Thats just the way some companies handle the security. Lexus/Toyota do it the same way. Chrysler does it like your Volvo (much better)

Got the update January 21st, but didn't notice the temperature icons until last week when it was near 0° and I was far away from the warm, dry nest where my S sleeps.

Does anyone happen to know if the auto-sensing wipers disengage with the remote start? They should, so you don't accidentally destroy them if you remotely start the car in snow/ice conditions with auto-sensing in the on position.

I don't think the wipers run in remote start

I can remember my fat foot used to touch the brake after I remotely started my Avalon and attempted to get in the car...that of course kills the engine.

I believe you can - just read about this feature and still at work so could not try in my CLE 53. But currently I setup a routine if the outside temp is below 40 turn on the seat warmer and this works at startup. So I would think the routine would start once the car is started remotely. I will find out tonight.

I do not believe it does. I tried it once before to no avail.

I don’t think the MBUX version in the S Class allows for routines

I’ve actually had this feature in all my BMWs since 2016/2017. The seats can be customized to two temperature bands, and the steering wheel can also be done separately. All these features are synced with the remote start. I’m really curious why current mbenz models still don’t offer that, and the answer is (lack of attention to detail IMO).

The BMW app was way better.
I'm hoping MB will eventually catch up.

Try also the Tesla app. It’s even better. Can even control rear seats heating, open the frunk, or even connect it with Apple Automation to do any function following Apple scripts. The best trick was connecting my Apple watch or phone side action button to run a certain automations like heating or cooling or lock and unlock. There’s actually a number of things I missed after selling my Model S. Technology and it’s implementation really matter and can level up the ownership experience quite a bit, likely more than anything else.
