The the ecu and the shocks for ABC are different for the 2 cars. They also were changed for both in 2003 (revised settings). The AMG car is clearly spring more stiffly. With ABC you do not have the issue where stiffer = more firm ride simply because the car is soft until the ecu dials out roll. The ECU allows more roll in the S600's and the AMG unit dials out 98% of the body roll when set in sport mode. The AMG shocks likely are more "heavy duty" being that an amg car would be driven harder more often and they have to deal with higher loads.
