Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Global Debut in Detroit Twin-Turbo V12 Powers World's Quickest Four-Door
DETROIT, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Closely following the launch of the
new-generation S-Class sedan, Mercedes-Benz is holding the world debut of the
exclusive new S65 AMG model at the North American International Auto Show in
Detroit, open to the public January 14 - 22, 2006. Joining the V8-powered
S550 model, the S65 AMG features the astonishing power of AMG's six-liter
twin-turbo V12 engine, which makes 604 horsepower for 0-60 mph test track
times of about 4.2 seconds.
AMG is the renowned high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz that
combines its ingenuity and performance tuning expertise with the global
technology resources and car-building expertise of Mercedes-Benz to take
engine, braking and handling performance technology to the highest level.
AMG made subtle enhancements to the S65 AMG body while remaining true to
the car's fundamental design. First, an AMG front apron with large cooling
air intakes and clear-lens fog lamps gives the vehicle a distinctive
appearance. Its dynamic side view is emphasized by AMG side skirts, and an
AMG rear apron is finished off by two sets of AMG chrome twin tailpipes.
Eye-catching 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels complement the car's overall
appearance, marking the first use of original-equipment 20-inch wheels and
tires on a Mercedes-Benz.
The S65 AMG's twin-turbo engine features a number of high-tech
modifications over the standard V12 powerplant, including a longer stroke and
larger bore, and the new model is fitted with a specially modified version of
the Mercedes-Benz five-speed automatic transmission.
To handle the high speed potential of the AMG twin-turbo engine, the front
brakes of the AMG V12 model are equipped with high-performance eight-piston
calipers and compound brake rotors.
Mercedes-Benz was the first automaker to develop active-suspension
technology for production cars, and the S65 AMG sedan is equipped with ABC
active suspension that reduces body roll in cornering, squat under
acceleration, and dive during braking.
The overall design theme of the S-Class interior conveys warmth and
comfort, from its standard full leather upholstery and wood trim to the
sweeping lines of the instrument panel. The front seats in the new S65 AMG
are an entirely new performance design with firmer contours and higher side
bolsters. Standard ventilated seats circulate air through the seat cushion to
reduce perspiration in hot weather.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
"can drive 55 Very nice, but is the refrigerator available?"
You dont need it by the time you put it in the fridge youd already be at your destination with this beast.

it shouldnt say 07 since the car is out and has been out for months as an 06 (not in the US though, usually a year later than int'l debuts). the streets over here and in Bahrain are witnessing more and more new S's. The local dealer in saudi has placed orders for 15K+ new S classes, including many purchased by the gov.
i got a Q though, will there be an S55k like the older model, an S63, or just an S65? any ideas...
