Hello everyone. I just discovered this site and since I just purchased an S55 I signed up. Very interesting threads. Already a help with the radar dectector thing. Traded in my 2002 Porsche Targa. I will be watching and will chime in when I have something constructive to add. Thanks and enjoy your monsters.

Jump starting '03 S55

Greetings from frigid Wyoming. Bought a very low miles late '03 S55, haven't driven it in 2 weeks, today won't start; had to manually open trunk, though there is a tiny bit of battery power left.
1. Where on earth is battery hidden in trunk?
2. Have heard/read of warnings re: jump-starting or trickle charging. No MB dealer within 350 miles of my location. Can I jump start?
THANKS.

Jeremy

Check the manual on how to do this. The location of the battery (right side in the trunk next to the spare wheel I believe).

After charging the battery have it checked to see if it needs replacement, and have your car 'read out' by a Mercedes shop to check and clear the error codes.

Oh yeah, if the power has been gone completely you have to turn the steering wheel from all the way left to all the way right to dim the 'BAS' light.

But the manual should help you here.

Drive it more often man!

Enjoy. I just got one too. Seems like a 2005-year-end S55 avalanche
