Engine mounts

Hey guys, my dads 06 s55 was experiencing a slight vibration whenever rpms where between about 1500 and 3000 rpms. I thought it was a problem with the transmission and so did he, so he took it in. After the techs looked at it for about a day, they found the problem, the transmission mount was faulty and one of the engine mounts was loose. They replaced all the mounts and the car runs like it was brand new. The scary thing is though, that they said theoretically that the transmission could have broken away from the mounts under very heavy load. I just thought id share this info with some fellow members incase any of you experience the same problem.

I also live in the Pittsburgh area and was curious what dealer you use and when this repair was done.

My 06 S55 has a weird hesitation at about 1800r.p.m. and I have not been able to figure it out. There is a guy on one of the CL boards that got a replacement tranny because of a vibration.

We use Rahal in Wexford, PA. They take care of us very good, ask to speak to Bob Hamilton hes our service adviser and is very knowledgeable. As to what your experiencing it sounds very similar, thinking back i remember it starting at about 1800 and occuring through 3000 rpm. I'd take it in.

It could be the same, to me it was more a vibration coming from the steering wheel, floor, seat, etc. more than a sound. It only happened during driving, not when the vehicle was in park. I neutral reved it a few times and the problem only came when the car was under load.

Thanks, I use Rahal too.

I had initially been looking at the supercharger clutch and also possibly the tsb on harsh torque converter lockup, but this also sounds like a possibility I had not considered.

Maybe they got a bad batch of tranny mounts-my car was actually made in march 2005. Do you know when your dads build date was?
