S55 or S600?
Which one to buy ? why?
one more question.
why is S65 amg 45000 more than S600? They have the same engine but S65 has bigger turbos. The differences of the turbos and larger brakes makes that much of a price difference?

2007 S600
S65 also has bigger brakes and bigger wheels and more horsepower.
As far as a 55 or 600. pick to one with the options you want. the 600 comes with more standard features.
also you need to buy a 600 sport to get the amg body work

2003 S55 AMG
S55. I drive a 2003 S55 AMG and there is nothing like it in the world. Obviously it is ultimately up to your choice and personality.
Personally, I liked the seats better and of course all of the sport set-ups that the 600 does not have. Plus, AMG are hand built engines at AMG where the 600 is a mercedes built engine and parts. From what my service advisor says at the dealer, the 55 AMG is a more reliable car than the 600. I, also, prefer the superchargers over the turbos.
The 65 AMG is a larger displacement 12 cylinder, again hand built at AMG. Even though it is owned by mercedes, AMG is definitely NOT mercedes technology. It is aftermarket technology that has been absorbed by the mercedes company and has become a part of mercedes. Which makes it even better now, because it is warrantied by mercedes AND there is a much closer relationship for the engineering of the automobiles.
My 2 cents.

2006 ML500
I've owned both a 2003 S55 and a 2003 CL600. I would say the 55 engine is tuned for more instant responsiveness whereas the V-12 TT in the 600 is much smoother...but also takes more urging to get moving. Once the hammer is down fully, the 600 pins me to the seat a bit harder than the S55 did. There doesn't seem to be any turbo lag with the V12....it just doesn't seem as willing to play if that makes sense?
The 55 engine was quite a bit louder as well and shifted firmer (AMG at work!). The 600 slams you against the seat but you can barely even hear the engine...and the shifts are like butter. The silent quarter mile is a weird experience!
Gas mileage is better in the V12 (that was a surprise to me since the TT don't have cylinder deactivation) and it sounds better at idle.
Bottom performance line...if you like to play alot with the car around town, get the S55. It is fun to beat on. If you want a smoother car that occasionally enjoys being a straight-line missile, get the S600.
