Nothing announced, so it's all speculation -- although there's a fair amount of "educated" speculation. It seems certain that an S63 will be announced for first half (maybe first quarter) 2007. It also seems that it will be normally aspirated, although it would presumably have some increase in output from the engine in the E/CLS 63, since that engine is not a step up from the last S55 engine or current SL55 engine.

The less-educated speculation is that the twin-turbo 63 will be ready in time, with a hardened 7-speed. That is not looking like a safe bet now. Plus it could come pretty close to S65 performance. The S63 seems to be between the rock of the S55 and the hard place of the S65.

The good news is that these are as much marketing hurdles to overcome as technology.

it the latest automobile mag, the 63 engine w/ biturbo will be fitted in the new gullwing mb to produce 750hp. i doubt they will be putting in the future flagship engine into the s in the next 2 yrs. if so, they might just limit it something lower than the s65 say 550? who knows. it just seems too soon for them to make any changes to the 63 engine when it just came out.

The new S63 and CL63 models will be shown this month at the Paris auto salon and they'll have 525hp, or about 517 in U.S. trim/hp standard/sae net.

To turbos until the facelift comes in 2010.
