S55k questions, want opinions.

S55k owners, can you tell me about your cars? What are they like to drive? Reliability?
I'm looking at 03-04 S55k. Some 03s can be had for about 50k now.
If you compare it to E55k - is there any difference in acceleration feel? What about 0-60, 1/4 mile time - real life.
Also what can you say about 03-04 year with about 40 to 60k miles?

it basically feels like an E55 +400 pounds. (I went from one to the next) I know the actual difference might be more, but the more sophisticated ABC and the almighty power of the 55k engine more than make up for it. It is better if you plan on having clients in the back seat, or any adult for that matter, as I do on a frequent basis. The S55 rocks for comfort/super fast/pretty darn good handling. Hopefully the S63 wont blow it. Youll love yours, i love mine even with its less than perfect color combo. HREs should be here very soon, and I might be tinting the taillights soon.. it's starting to look pretty mean.

I'm going to have kids in the back. 2 of them very soon.
I like S55 a lot more than E55 appearence wise.
Love your color combo btw ;-) Not as mean as black or gray but still very classy. I'm going to be looking at either white/tan or Grey. Black is good but pain in the *** to keep it clean.
What about reliability? Any problems? It seems to me that S55k for some reason is more reliable than E55.

Try to go 04 and up. 02-03 were bad vintage years for MB reliability.

I love my s55. Comming from a cadillac seville, the S is even bigger. Power is like night and day. Never drove a e55 but the S is super fast. People have asked if I had an work done on the engine, keep in mind that it is stock. The rear has tons of space. As for reliability, I have had it in the shop three times since I got it five months ago. Simple things but still a pain. I would say it is a great car.

Havent had any problems thus far with mine. Knock on wood.. I love it though, fast, comfortable, big, decent handling. Feels a lot more glued than it is, plus any car that big that will get sideways with ESP off from a dead stop is a car i dont mind driving! Good luck with finding one and if you have any more questions, let me know. Depending on how soon the S63 gets here, you might even be able to buy mine off of me in a few months.
