Looking good! It's pretty much identical to the S65. I noticed that the pics show a short wheel base model. After reading further, it looks like it will be offered in both short and long wheel base.

Tough call. Looks great, but it will probably go the way the N/A S55 went.

I like it a lot, and will probably end up getting one of these or an S600.. I dont think it will every be quite as undesireable as the N/A S55 because it still does have at least 500+ hp. At least thats what they say..

Bummer as there dont appear to be paddle shifters in this car and of course there is no center console shifter. The buttons bug me a little bit in the current car. First wheels really do rock, neat new approach to AMG 5 spoke design

S63 will be a tough sell unless it is a lot cheaper than the S600. Who would take a N/A V8 over a V12-TT ?

Well it has the sport thing going for it...

S600 you can't even get the AMG sport package, except for that one random one!).

I think if you stay with the all leather steering wheel as oppose to the wood steering wheel there will be F1 paddle shifters like the ones on the E63. (Take a look at the interior picture again and you will see the F1 paddles.) I can't wait to test drive one of these!

They're at least 19s, maybe 20s.. It said there were optional high-quality forged 20s. I'm assuming those are them, they look the part. I really want this car to get here. I think it will be the best handling S class (at least in short wheelbase edition) ever. And the perfect size for my needs. I might not be able to smoke the tires in 1st, but chirping in between the 1st shift (or two) could be just as sweet. Not to mention with a good exhaust, I bet it SINGS!

Here is the info. taken from the AMG Press Release today:

8.5 and 9.5-inch wide 19“ AMG light-alloy wheels in a new four-spoke design, with wide-base tyres in size 255/40 (front) and 275/40 (rear), not only fill the striking, flared wheel arches perfectly, but also ensure outstanding road contact. Two completely new AMG light-alloy wheels in size 8.5 and 9.5 x 20 inches – one of them using a particularly lightweight forging technology – are available as optional extras.

The first set of four-spoke design that most of us like I think are the staggered 19 x 8.5 and 19 x 9.5 running 244/40/19 and 275/40/19 tires. Please make mine Silver with the classy and sporty black interior, sport steering wheel with F1 paddle shifters and these four-spoke staggered wheels and tires!

For those of you who are the first ones to take delivery on this beauty please post pictures and feedback after you get yours. Thanks and cheers!

Guys- do you think that the S63 will depreciate significantly within the first 6 months to year after being out? If the answer is no, I'll be taking delivery in late January/early february. And I took some beautiful pictures of my current 55er, but the lack of ability to upload pictures directly is a little bit of a pain. Once that back, I'd be glad to show off. Greg- you might want my car when I get the 63.

Thanks for the offer my Friend! I think my next S Class will either be the 06' S65 or the new S63. (After owning both Supercharged and Normally Aspirated AMG engines I am leaning more towards the Normally Aspirated S63 since it now produces well over 500 horses without turbo charging or super charging and that's just personal preference...)

Also, after owning both black and silver cars I really enjoy not washing my car twice a week, instead, with a silver car I only need to wash it once every 2 to 3 weeks, and I actually spend more time enjoying my silver S55 rather than dusting the black CLS55 every day...However, the undisputed fact is that Black in much more stunning when it is clean! (The keyword here is when it is clean...)

However, my Mom only buys white MBZ so she might be interested in your S55 because that is her favorite color combo. Let me know when you do decide to sell it.

Cheers!

My guess is the S63 will only be available in the long wheelbase in the US. The short wheelbase will be for Europe only.

I feared this as well, and it would be absolutely horrible if true. I honestly might have to custom import one. Short wheelbase on the looooooong W221 is the coolest thing since sliced peanut butter. (there is such thing) I will let you know for sure, not sure exactly when, but probably within the year. I sincerely hope MB does the right thing and gives the US SWB.

I believe the picture of the wood steering wheel is wrong and that the steering wheel comes full leather w-paddles.

the car looks great, but i prefer the first wheels much more than the latter w/ the higher spokes. also, i'm not too crazy about the bottom half of the steering wheel w/ the 2 spokes...you guys ever see the chysler 300 steering wheel?
btw, one day i'd love to get white/blk combos but not sure why i never see them anymore. mostly i see white/beige, and ocassionally white/grey, but never the blk interior. hmm.
