Can an 03 s55 beat a ZO6

I just re-read your post vegas 55.. There's absolutely no way if you are just going to spend a little on engine mods. I have to agree, that new Z06 has numerous advantages over your S55.

I've owned a modded C5 with 425/385 RWHP/TQ SAE and at 3200 lbs wet no driver, it matched the current Z06 +/-
in performance.
The late model C5-C6 corvettes are fast with even a fool behind the wheel, and wicked fast in the hands of someone who can drive them, though they have to work a little harder.
Factory 2001 and later C5's are good for low 13/high 12's and top out at 175 mph. The Z06's were good for mid 12's. Now the current generation C6's are mid to high 12's, and the Z06's high 11's, with top speeds in the 175-195 range.
C5/Z06=350/405
C6/Z06=400/505
The new C6 Z06 is brutal, I've seen 0-60's in 3.6 seconds.
Stock fo stock? Good races (C6 vs S55/600 and Z06 S55/S65)
Start modding them all and everything is up for grabs IMHO...
I mean heavily modded blown Mercs with sticky rubber? I would think very few big HP vette's want to deal with that action from a dig, unless the race goes longer than a 1/4 mile....
in performance.

Sorry not happenin' current C6 Z06 dyno at 465rwhp 440rwto & weigh 3100lbs
I would've chimmed in earlier but it looks like logic prevailed..S55 modded to the hilt aint got a prayer next to the C6 Z06 when properly driven...
But since your friend just bought it depending on his experience level w/stick, you may just catch him sleeping off the line, but even then after he hits 2nd-3rd it over for you

ricker, with the stage 2 renntech do you know what the hp is. its pretty close but i guess the weight is the big issue.. well that and the heated 4 seats fan seat navi, massage, , warranty, benz service, killer rental cars and all that other stuff huh,

You can't beat him but here's the closest you can get.
Forget all the tires and pulleys and headers and intakes and innecoolers. Your fix will cost around $13 at the local hardware/auto place.
Go buy some tow cable and tie the front of your car to the back of his and you'll be only one car length behind him.
All jokes aside, put four people in each car and then you'll beat him since he won't be able to drive his that way and that would be comprable race.

Yeah, thats on the wheels. Actually, the best package is the pulley + ECU + TB. I have a Stage 3 + throttlebody dyno results tomorrow. If you can email me, i will gladly share the dynochart.

Ricker, yeah, you are more or less right about the current Z06 vs me, but after previously racing a mildly modified 8.3 litre Viper several times and tieing him (with 250 lbs of me+200 lbs of girl/groceries/and gear) from a roll, I think it would be a very good race (that will never happen since I recently sold my C5 to a friend in VA).
I also said "matched" not "whooped"
(also had Nitto 305mm soft compound race tires out back, which helped tremendously out of the gate).
FWIW (if you didn't already know), don't always let other's RWHP figures fool you. One could argue for months about dyno operators and how they can add paper horsepower to make the owner happy. I've known people it has happened to.
My dyno tuner gave me the lowest set of numbers he could have possibly, b/c I was there, watched him, and saw him struggle to tweak for the most power over three days, as opposed to printing out a set of fluff numbers. He even showed me how he could magically give me 8 more RWHP via another graph.
However, that current C6 Z06 "505" FWHP is considered underated, and it probably makes more like 515 FWHP (435 RWHP SAE) as an average. And it does weigh 3132 wet w/o nav, etc. Cut to half a tank of fuel and it checks in at around 3080 lbs. A power to weight that is to be take very seriously
Sorry for the corvette rant! I'll back off and wait till I get my hands on my own Merc

Can we please end this session of humoring these pieces of American Trash driving around their GARBAGE CANS. Any discussion of AMG vs corvette is disgusting due to the fact that they are completely different vehicles, one a luxury car, the other a garbage can. The best way to win this race is tell your friend that you dont want to race him, because no matter how fast his vette is, he still has to put it on the curb Sunday nights for Monday morning garbage collection.

I don't like American cars either but a 07 Z06 is far from a garbage can!
The car can outhandle, out-brake and out run 99% of the cars on the road today at any price point, yes it is a onetrick pony (performance) but it does a helluva job and is very reasonably priced.
Would I buy one........maybe but I sure as hell will give credit where credit is due and GM did a top job when they built the Z06.
Viva America!

this was one of the best treads (for me ) yet!. I like the idea of all these car buffs putting in there opinions on two totally different cars. and I still cant decide which one is faster. (But I do know which one is better). this is good stuff. mercedes can hold its own. thats all I really care about..period..
thanks
thanks

Well, a Stage 5 E55 dyno-ed at 500 hp / 529.0 torque on the wheel. With the Z06 @ 505 hp (crank?), its almost impossible to run against him with such weight disadvantage. So its conclusive Stage 5 S55 < Z06.
