AMG Sport Package?

This is my first post to this forum... I currently own a 2005 E55 - its absolutely wonderful... but I am ready for a vehicle with more interior space... something super comfortable... quiet, great for long distance cruising... all the latest gadgets... and yet with a similar level of performance... I love the AMG formula in general... all of which leads me to the S63...

I took one for a test drive last weekend and was pretty impressed... certainly the acceleration is different... more linear with none of the "hang on for dear life" quality of my E55... But it sounds great!

Looking through the options list I believe that the AMG package has an LSD... (plus alloys and de-limited speedometer) My question is does anyone have this option, do you notice the difference, and given the character of the car, is it worth the almost $7,000? The alloys are not such a big deal for me and my driving is mostly local and freeways... Essentially accelerating from stop light to stop light or up on-ramps really fast...

Still this will be a longer term acquisition and I don't want to regret afterwards either...

The package you are referring to is the 030 - it does NOT include a LSD, it does include designo piano black wood, special wheels (georgeous) and the delimited speed. There are discussions on the board about the + and - of this - it's personal preference. I'm glad I opted for it - i'm pretty sure I won't hit 186 but you never know.

I think it mostly comes down to if you like the wheels or not.

Thanks for the comments guys... Checking it seems you are right... no LSD..

Anyway I did order my S63 today! (Options: P3, ipod, Distronic plus, Rear Seat Package, Panorama roof)

Now I just have to wait until November....

My only slight dissapointment is that the 2008 brochure appears incorrect in its picture of the interior of an S63. It shows the front console covered in a premium leather identifiable by a seam that passes through the keyless go and the glove compartment button. Perhaps that is a Euro model as the 2008 s63 I sat in did not have that... I sat in several S600's, 550,s and an S65. Seems this feature is in the S65 and S600 only...

You are correct, the brochure isn't accurate regarding the extra leather. Although, we can't confirm it, ordering a Designo might include these extra leather bits. Regardless, congrats on your order! Its one heck of a nice ride.

2008 S63=AMG: Black (Savanna/Cashmere) Kleeman Delimited 200MPH
LSD by Kleemann

I just returned from Colorado Springs. Cory @ Kleeman converted the rear Diff. to Limited Slip with a 60% torque bias.

I am running drag times at Heartland Park in Topeka on Wednesday eve.

It seems to be a little more responsive in the corner under accelleration.

I wont really know until I get it on the road track in October at Heartland Park.
