Ugh,

The Manheim MMR is a *tool*. That's it. It does not disclose if the car was lemon-lawed, franchise dealer only, frame damage, etc etc.

Unless you actually see the car run through the lane (which I have seen two s65's go through during the spring), you won't know the full story behind it.

As far as I know right now, the wholesale pricing is about 130k. Some may be lemon lawed, most are likely franchise-dealer only, meaning, not easily accessible by used car dealers.

Give it another 6-12 months when people start defaulting on their leases/loans or people start trading in their cars for newer models. The car S65 is still an "it" car, but just like everything else in life, it will fade from the spotlight (ie release of the new 7 series). That's when the bargains will be literally falling from the sky.

From a retail point of view, you won't see $100k S65's for probably another 18 to 24 months. Dealers have to make a profit, ya know? The S63's will probably be sub $100k faster than the S65's.

I have a connection at a dealership in Utah that will give it to you for invoice. You just have to pay for shipping. Let me know if you are interested.

Regarding 2007 S65s...

Utah: As you know, we have been talking about used 2007 S65s. Even at invoice on a 2008 S65, you are still at around $180K or $14K down from MSRP. According to Autotrader, there are some 'new', unsold 2007 S65 at US dealers. These can not only be had at invoice, but way below that figure (although they are not advertised publicly). I have heard of some significant trunk money from Mercedes Benz to move these out of dealer stock, but perhaps some of you that know the exact figure can divulge it ($25K?). And lease company start to do funny things to payment numbers on left-over (e.g. 07) model year cars - which doesn't have the effect of helping move out these cars out of inventory. Thus, as the 08 model year progresses, there will be added pressure to sell these cars at a loss by the dealer who has them (invoice, less trunk money, less additional price reduction from dealer's pockets) to stop the accumulating finance charges on this sitting & old ('07) 'inventory' at their showrooms. This, in turn, will force dealers with used 2007 S65 cars with some mileage & wear/tear to reduce their prices to in order move their 'not new' inventory along. So I definitely think it will be interesting to see what happens to the used 2007 S65 market in the next few months. As of today, Autotrader.com lists around 28 of these cars at dealers in their website (used and new). Z356.

Manheim is a tool but a tool that shows reality

True Manheim is a tool but what I like to do is search out my cars and run the vins with the carfax.....They grade these cars and on the lanes they will disclose any issues along with posting them on the open OVE alomost all of the actual problems with the cars...many many cars sell a lot cheaper then one would expect and the cars are perfect...... you will see a few S65'S with lemon law titles...which can be washed ... but look at it like this if I am catching the low end of the depreciation side at $60k less then new or more and the car had some owner who decided he could not afford it or didnt want to lose on a trade in and then got the car lemon lawed for their own personal reasons ...well I would like to be the guy who saves the coin and not the one who blows $30-50k or more because the car is without flaws......l saved $20k on my E55 and well didnt lose a dollar and drove it for 13 months ... it was a lemon law car.... loved that car... anyway.....patience is the key ... wait and you can unlock a great deal with it on any car.....

what is killing the market now

The Bentley Gt is coming down very fast now in value and you can get a nice one for under $110k tbis is a great deal breaker for the guys trying to buy a car in the low to mid 100's ....makes more sense... I would take a S65 all day over that VW experience but I know cars.... most buyers are status buyers and mostly over the $100K mark......why buy a S65 when you can look like a pimp in a Bentley for less? that is why the cars are dropping so quick also.......also do to the fact that as we know all AMG models start with a mass produced car....making the AMG rare by build numbers but not by the public eye.....not many people know the difference.... but you know a Bentley or a Aston Martin

There is no "trunk money" on 08 OR 07 S65's and it will probably be quite a while until you see MBUSA offer anything to the dealers on these cars. If there were, Edmunds.com would have that info.

Leasing a new S63 and need some help.

I consider myself to be pretty savy when it comes to car leasing. I am currently looking to lease a s63 with an MSRP of 145,100. The car is my dream car and the numbers seem right. Can anyone verify the money factors I'm getting are a good deal for this type of car. I was quoted a 60 month lease, no money down (0 cap cost), money factor of .00360 and a residual sale of 54,511.00 with a lease payment of 2377.00 with CT sales tax (6%).
I called a few dealer and got three different number for approximately the same equipped car.
Can someone verify/help.
Thanks for your time in advance.

You consider yourself "savvy" when it comes to leasing.
However a 5 year lease with 0 down sounds like a prison term to me.
I would suggest putting some serious coin down at the beginning. (After all either you pay at the beginning or the end or the middle).
I'd advise a 2 year lease with big money down. Then after 2 years you can re write your lease by putting more money into it. A lot less painful than 5 years at a high monthly amount

Miles, term, purchase price, cap cost, money factor, residual......leasing isnt brain surgery. As long as you know all these items and compare them to other offers youre good to go.

I would expect 10k+ off minimum if it were me.

Now this is interesting! What kind of car is that? A 2008 S55 V12?
