S55 680 Hp!

today i was at my garage..and my mechanic told me, he can boost the engine for an xtra 180hp, he did it on 4 amgs this year, will cost around 10k
takes about a week of work.. my question is, what do u think this guy is doing? he wont install stuff i guess or that what i understood. his main job will be with the kompressor.
any thoughts?

Only thing he could possibly do is the put in new gears in the compressor to overdrive the hell out of it. Even then 180hp is stretching it really far.

Ask him if he has any dyno numbers that you can take a look at.

Also ask SPECIFICALLY what is being done to the car. My guess is it's bigger pulleys and ECU like most mods and no way that would get you to 680hp. Even if you don't understand what he is saying, try to write it down and post it up so we can see what he said.

I am dead serious, if this guy has some secret that noone knows about, there are at least a dozen guys that would have it done ASAP. Could make him quite a bunch of $$$$. Maybe that will get him to give up some more info.

Otherwise, sounds like a bunch of

sure, ill try to ask him what will be exactly done..

this is the mechanic who owns the garage that i go to, one of the best where i live, specialized in MB, porsche and bmws.

but ill give it a try and see what he does he actually do.. all what i understood is, it takes like a week or more and extensive work to be done.

Is this to the wheels? I mean its very possible to get this kind of power but not to the wheels. Crank hell yes. Hell jakpro who posted above is maybe close to that crank wise but no work on the supercharger will do this. A stage 5 will get you there but thats ecu, pulleys, headers, tb, airbox, and cams. So I think he meant some bolt ons.

+1

I think with standard stage 5 (with maybe bigger pulley) + cams + custom ECU + good cooling mod, 680 hp (at the crank) is doable especially as those mods have been out there for a while and been proven

But just supercharger boost maybe a little out there

Well, to be honest, it is doable but only at the crank. 680 on the rear wheels with 10 k?

Not happening. No way. That would be in excess of 550 RWHP. I call , especially for 10K. Very few Kompressor cars exceed 500 RWHP without NOS.

Are you sure? I'm at 450rwhp with just a pulley. I was thinking headers, TB, cams and a REAL cooling mod (maybe even an ECU tune) would give me an extra 50rwhp easy.

Maybe with all of that, but you may also have run on a generous dyno. Ask around. I repeat, there are very few 55K motors producing in excess of 500 WHP. This guy claims what would have to at least 50 RWHP beyond that. Again, I call

I agree on the for the 680hp claim. I was really commenting on the highlighted portion of what you said for a heavily modded car(which is what i think is being described).

*Thread hijack*(sorry) but is this a generous dyno:

OK, math problems right from the start.
S 55 = 469 HP. + 180 HP. boost = 649 -18% = 532 RWHP.

Easy to do at an OAT -10* in Canada

The -18% is for drivetrain loss.

I don't get the OAT stuff either. Educate me please

18% drive line loss, crankshaft Hp less Drive line loss gives you rear wheel HP.

OAT is Outside Air Temperature. - 10* would be 10 degrees below zero.

Most classification societies adopt standards IE. SAE, ISO and most engines are rated on a standard day and that is generally accepted as 58* OAT and a barometric pressure of 29.90

Outstanding dyno! Houston & South Florida 90 degrees and 100% humidity.

I am not going to say it can't be done (180 HP. for $10K) but it may not be the best mod to do, after all it could be an ASP pulley, ECU flash and a 100 shot of

+1. There is a BIG difference between 450 RWHP and 550+ RWHP. At the accepted 17-18% loss, 680 HP = 557-564 RWHP. I find that extremely hard to believe without NOS.

S65 Renntech'd, GL450, Super Charged Range Rover
My 2007 S65 has 604HP stock.

Headers, Pulleys, Exhaust, Cold Air Intake, Airbox, ECU, Bigger Inter-Cooler Pump.

I'm getting 748HP. I only pulled 144HP with all those adjustments.

I put 22's on my car a couple months ago and it dyno'd at 718.

if you are in Montreal, Canada... a member by the name of VRUS, is just a stone throw away, you can ask him what you should get for about $10K to make it go fast

Sorry, I stand corrected. Is the SAL 493 too?

I think the difference from the E55 (469) to the S class is that the S class has the 80mm TB and a much larger intercooler radiator.
both would enhance the addition of a over drive pulley for the supercharger.

Did anyone call for more details?

The thing is the S55 and the E55 dyno's at about the same whp. So it seems the people at Mercedes did this because they didn't want people to think the flagship car had the same power as the E class. The larger intercooler is correct but the 80mm tb was only added to the 2007 SL55 amg.

Your worst nightmare...
I would not have said this before, but since I lost my car I will say it, I had everything possible on my E55 and it was dynoing a bit north of 540RWHP,

I had pretty much everything out there....Klee headers, SLR cams, 80MM TB, ASP pulleys, EGS, TCU, Custom tune from Evotech and the super top secret of the Bottom mount intercooler without the Bypass Valve. yes sir way north of 540. I have a little dyno to prove it. By the way this was in an 75 degree weather. Las time I ran 11.5 @ 121 or 122 can't recall there is a video roaming around at you tube. She had so much torque off the line I had to feather her. So obtaining some of those figures are doable but with a lot of Mula....ask My man JackPro, his car will be a beast pretty soon, I predict he will be way north of 580RWHP, it cost him an arm and a leg though, just like it cost me an eye...
