2009 S65 Amg
1.) When is the earliest ,
one can get a 2009 S65?2.) If I want a specific designo color (Mystic white with piano/white interior) does this greatly delay my build time?
3.) Should I shoot for an 08' S65 instead? I was hoping that the 09's would change the cross stitching back to a more "reasonable" look.
4.) Any other options?
Thanks!!

A bit confused as to which year I should shoot for....08 or 09....Seriously.

Does anyone know how many of these (color combo's) were produced in 2007 and 2008? Mystic white with porcelin and piano black wood interior?
Thanks.

Designo cars typically can take a month longer than a normal order.
But didn't '08 S65 arrive in US in July07 or so?
'09 SL63/65 will prob be in US in Spr08....so added push to synch MYs by early Summ08....
And another unknown is....when is facelifted/mid-cycle refreshed S-Class arriving? Sales have already been dropping quickly....launched in US in ?Feb06....
Unfortunately, not clear that MB realizes most buyers view this 65 quilted leather crap as tacky....so who knows if they will solve error in MY09???
Facelift won't come until 2010 model year.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

They either think their customers are just plain stupid or they want to give a potential buyer a feeling that if he buys the car at MSRP or even a few grand more, he might have made THE deal of his life (wow, I got $50K off...).
BTW, a designo S65 plus $50K comes very close to the price of the CL65 Anniversary Edition...

............Part of the problem is that some of us help create the stereotype. Some make themselves feel better by buying into the BS. Paying above MSRP for supposedly limited production this and that. The dealers must really think we are idiots.

Nope, just going by typical MB practice. They almost always facelift a 7-year production run model in the 3 or 4th year. It will be timed to fit in with the new E/CLK just like in 03, this way all of them get any engine updates at the same time. By then MB should have come around to direct injection for the 5.5L V8. You know it won't be 2009 model year because you'd see prototypes and other indications that a change is coming. The 09' models arrive in July-August. MB believe it or not is fairly predictable with facelifts.

. I visited the dealership a couple of times last year to test drive the new E63 and they tried to sell me a used E63 (2k miles) for $101k while the brand new ones were selling for $92k
This is something that happened to the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction a few years ago. Some very wealthy individuals decided that they wanted to blow a few hundred grand on cars that are actually only worth (70-80k) and thus raising the prices for all the following years.
I guess cars are only worth what you are willing to pay for them.....
PS- On another note - I called the dealership to get a quote for a windshield replacement.... Conversation goes like this:
MB- Hello MBenz service department, how can I help you?
ME- Hi! I would like to get a quote and schedule a time to replace my windshield.
MB - What model car do you own sir?
ME- S65 AMG
MB - IS that a mercedes benz?
ME - Long pause......................Um. Yes.....Yes it is.
WoW!!!

That's crazy........ They don't even know their own models?
I would've changed the very last response to this:
ME - Long pause.......................Um. No..... No it's not. Thank you. Goodbye.

I called Fletcher Jones (The one who has the White on White S65 on eBay) the other day and my phone conversation went something like this...
ME-Hi, I'm calling in regards to the White S65 you have on eBay.
MB-Ok, hold on a minute and let me get you on the phone with an S-Class specialist.
MB-Hi, may I help you?
ME-Yes, I'm calling you in regards to the White S65 on eBay.
MB-Oh, is that the AMG one?
ME-....... sigh....

99% of dealers of any brand (of any product) are incompetent.....
In any major mkt, one either has relationships w/the one-two competent dealers/salesguys who offer fair pricing/exemplary svc to repeat custs and/or is referred to these dealers by colleagues who are major repeat custs....
Darwinian selection exists among both dealers and repeat customers in every major mkt....incl LA/BevHills.....
