S55 or CL55

Hello.
After lots of thinking and negotiating with my wonderfull wife it is now time for me to get a new car. I am in love with the idea of 493HP!!! Before my current S500 I drove a ZO6 Corvette with 400HP and that was great. But now it is time for the next level in life. So my question is has anyone here sat in the back seat in a CL55? It doesn't look that bad. I am assuming the fronts on the S and CL are the same. Thanks.

I was also in a similar dilemma earlier this year, although I wanted a 600 or 65 car. At 6'6" tall, I tend to drive with the seat all the way back. In the CL you would be able to fit a bag of groceries on the seat behind me...no way a real person could fit back there as the back of the front seat nearly touches the back seat. With the S-Class I can fit all three kids back there without having to think about adjusting the front seats. There is more than enough room and the back seat on the S will take three people as opposed to the two-place seating that is found in the CL. If the CL was as roomy inside as the S, I would have one right now. With the back seat becoming useless in the CL, I personally would contemplate a Porsche or even a new Z06 if I were looking for a car with little to no back seat room. Keep in mind most of this is due to my height as well as my desire to have the ability to take my children to the store with me.

The CL also has a little less headroom than the S. I tried every position I could on the seat and could not get it low enough to have adequate headroom without tilting it way back and becoming uncomfortable. I drove a CL65 a few times and even had a deal negotiatied to purchase it (I REALLY wanted that car) but the lack of comfort in driving position made me ultimately decide on an S-Class. Good luck with your decision.

For my personal use and pleasure I'd go for the S55.
