S55 Kompressor mileage vs the N/A S55

hi guys,

any here own S55 Kompressor and also previously owned the regular N/A S55?
i wanted to find out what people are getting to mileage on their 2003-2006 kompressor V8's vs. the 2001-2002 N/A V8. This way, the gas mileage might have some relevance since you've driven owned both cars(and presumably driving them in similar fashion).

p.s. as a background of why I'm curious, when I went from my 01 E55 to my 2002 S55 - using very similar driving patterns over 2k miles, I consistently averaged 19mpg on the E55. However, the same engine on the S55 with heavier car, I usually got only 14-17mpg. I had one friend who even got 10-12mpg on similar S55.
Thx.
Patrick

Don't have the experience you're looking for, but I got the 14-17 from my 2001 S55 and get 12-13 from my S65. On a long roadtrip I averaged 14. I suspect the supercharged S55 would be similar.

Another variable is changes in fuel composition over the yrs...

IIRC, early in decade, identical AMGs would get ?2MPG more in NYC region use vs SF/LA use (assuming similar driving; highest poss oct fuel; and 60-80F temps)....

Would guess fuel everywhere in recent yrs has become more eco-modified w/implics for MPG, all else being equal...

We just drove our 04' S55 from NJ to South carolina last week..all told it was 1700 miles round trip including driving around town etc. It averaged 19 mpg for the entire trip.
The car definately gets better mileage at 80 - 85 than around 65 for some reason.

that's very helpful...I got up to 20 mpg on 1100 mile trip going 80mpg, but only generally on mixed driving is 14-17.
what is your mpg when you have blended hwy/street driving? thx.
