Angry HELP: 2002 S55 AMG auxiliary fan stopped after engine degreased

I took my car to a dealership for an oil leak that was caused I think due to an oil filter incorrectly installed. They suggested to degrease the engine first in order to find where the leak is coming from. Few hours later I got a call that the radiator auxiliary fan stopped working and needs replacement (cost $1200) parts and labor. They checked the fan fuse and it is ok.

Is there anything else can be done to get the fan working? has anyone out there experienced this problem?

I am wondering if they have shortened the fan during degreasing / washing engine.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks...

Everytime I get water near the aux Fan it goes out. I had a radiator hose leak and the fan stopped running. The Fan seems very susceptible to moist shortages. I continue to have the problem on my second fan.
