I have had my S63 for almost one year now, and I am just as excited driving it today as on the day I picked it up from the dealer. I am also getting a little bit more daring in everyday traffic (meaning that I enjoy being first on a red light and waiting with a silly grin on my face for the moment it turns green). Anyway, has anybody else experienced that with moderate to full power the RPM limiter kicks in before switching from 1st to 2nd gear? This is in S mode which I think is otherwise a perfect match for this car.
Thanks,
Harald

So am I the only one pushing the pedal to the metal in a S63?

I've never had an AMG with the 7-speed, but I can't imagine the rev limiter should engage in S mode. In both our C55 and S65 you can floor it in S and have smooth shifts. Same was true in my S55 and going way back, even my wife's C36. A loss of time when the engine cuts out would not be acceptable to me. Check and see if there are any TCU flash updates.
It sounds like your ECU and TCU are not in sync.

Thanks for the reply. And where would I check for these updates? I asked the dealership and they said they would check with MB-USA, but so far no response.

Keep at it. Ask to speak to the zone representative if you get a run around. That's the service escalation procedure.Originally Posted by HaraldC

Well guys and gals, good news. I was at the dealer today and the very knowledable service tech updated the Motor Electronics software. It was a download directly from Germany. All is well now!
