I was in the same boat as you....

CLS63 is a nice looking car with a nice tone to it...

S63 looks nice, classy, but is sloooow for what it is advertised....

The S600(which I actively looking for) is what i'm recommending. Here is why....

S600 with a Renntech or Carlsson upgrade shoots the HP up to 640hp, thats 36 more than the S65, if you want the exhaust noise to match...get Meisterschaft. You will be dusting off ANYTHING that pulls up next to you, Lamborghinis, Ferrari's, anything. Next issue is the looks.... The S600's with the sports package are nice but rare. So spend 2k more and find an AMG kit for it and it will make all the difference in looks.

Even with all those semi-mods to the S600, you are still under 40k in difference from an S65 which you would take. Just try to get a FULLY loaded S600, panoramic, massage rear seats, etc etc, the works.

Prices: New: CLS63 $100k plus S63 $145k plus S600 $144k plus
Used(under 30k miles): CLS63 $60k S63 $85k S600 $80k

S600

I prefer the CLS personally, but for what you want and all around use, the S600 is the way to go!

Heh, you buy a S600 mainly for one thing, that is superb refinement, comfort,
and speed. IMO it is the best limo in the world. I wouldn't try to turn it into
an AMG because the very name S600 is as prestigious as AMG.
Then there's the fun part, with your foot down you will blow most things into
the dust without effort. I have had mine 2 years, and I love it.
It's easily better than a CLS or E class for room and comfort, and just as quick.

++1. That is why I have ordered a 2010 S600. It should arrive in late April 2010.

Mercedes
Owning a CLS and having driven w221 S550, 63, 600 and 65 I would say go with the S600 and mod it if you want improved performance.

2007 CLS 550
I have a 2008 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GTS- Now, a S600, or S65 yes it is the pinaccle of luxury.... (For passengers sitting in the back seat). I would buy this car pesonally to be driven around in, but no style. Looks like all the S550s out there only serious benz guy like us notice. But the Maserati is more of a driver's car. One of the Sexiest Cars on the road, you are very involved as a driver, more sporty (If sport GT or Sport GTS) and sexy as all hell.... I use mine as a DD and it is pure bliss man. Also noticed the prices on S65 the other day, Wow thats high... I would go with the Maserati Everytime if its a car I drive. If I have fonzworth to drive me around, go with the Merc sedan. Just my opinion guys, since I'm a bit partial to Maserati.

PORSCHE PANAMERA TURBO LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO SL600 E55 BRABUS*SOLD*
Drove the Maserati Q and it seemed real slow. I enjoyed my Maser Gransport Bianco Fuji (Pearl White) when I had it. The car had an incredible
exhaust note and great straight line speed. Of the choices listed I would choose S600 with AMG sport package. Power and looks.
