S55 I want rear tires to be wide ....but how wide?

i dont want them to look fat & clumsy.
I would like the same look as my C6...the tires width looks so fresh!

The ones i have right now are 265 40 zr 18

i figure my launch will be better as well

but are there any drawbacks

&& just how wide can i go i was thinkin 275 40 zr18??

will it look like i want it to?
thanks so much guys

275/40-18 are standard on an S55 AMG. I have run 285/35-19 on 19 X 11 Lorinser LM5 wheels. these are meaty and do not rub and fill the fenderwell. I can send you pics if you like.

how wide can you go up front?

for my 2004 S55 the stock sizes are listed as
245/45R18 front
265/40R18 rear

I'd like to know if these will fit
255/40R18 front
285/35R18 rear

I suspect the 285 may not fit on stock AMG rims, and if so I might as well upsize to 19" if I'd have to buy new rims. In that case, I'll need to start a search for 19" tires. I'm not too keen on the painted finish anyway.

My goal is to find *quiet* asymmetric all-season tires that can be flipped side-to-side to help them stay quiet. This is a big pain in the *** because the S55 tires are big and their load rating is very high.

I realize I won't have the cornering traction provided by the sticky SOBs on there now (the original OEM tires I think!), but that will hopefully slow me down a bit
