I don't know if this applies to your car, but my 2003 has a mini jack plug in the glove compartment, on the left side. The ipod can't be controlled through the car's buttons (except volume, of course) but it works for me.
In my car I hit the SVC button, cycle through the option and select AUX.
Our pre-2004 (pre-MOST) cars have the older wiring and it's very expensive to do a full ipod integration.
Hope you at least have the jack.
