S55 Wheel Offset Question
I have an 03 S55 AMG. I'm looking @ buying a set of used HRE 543r's but do not know if the offsets will fit properly. The fronts are 20X9.5 +21, rears 20X10.5 +40. Thanks!

On the rear, the stock setup was 9" wide, 44mm offset. At 10.5 " width and basically the same offset (<.16 inch difference) you will have about 3/4 of an inch more wheel / tire on each side of the hub. This could cause a problem with suspension rubbing on the inside? Probably okay though on the rears.
On the front, I think you have amuch bigger chance of a problem. The stockers were 8.5" wide and again 44mm offset. You are talking about trying to go to an inch wider rim while also shifting the wheel and tire out almost an inch. IF you don't have rubbing issues at the fende, you will still be changing the suspension geometry quite a lot and handling, tire wear, and suspension component wear can all become issues.
What did the PO run this setup on?

He told me they were on his brothers CL but the only pictures have been of the set sitting in a garage and not on a car. Thanks a lot for the info.

Your going to have problems with those wheels. The fron offset is way too low and maybe too wide. The rear offset is too high and will not clear. But no harm in test fitting it!

The rears might fit but the front will definately not clear. I have 10 in wide in the back with 40mm offset and I have the slightest rub when I go fast on a big dip. Car is lowered about 2 inches with lowering links as well. My fronts are 8.5 with 40mm also with no rubbing issues what so ever.

BTW, I wouldn't recommend anything wider than 9 on the front. 8.5 seems to be ideal with no more than 10 on the rear. Also, unless you just like the harsh ride of no sidewalls, 19's are a better choice than 20's, IMHO
